We have received around three feet of wet snow along with high winds causing 6 foot high drifts.this past weekend. It took all day yesterday just to plow a trail with the loader 1/4 mile up to the corrals to feed our bred heifers and replacement heifers. We didn't make it up to our main cow herd a mile further up the road but we had fed them extra hay the day before since we just barely made it up to them then. Our bulls are 3 miles on beyond. The county snowplow just went by. It's a large grader with a v-plow on front and only makes it about 50 feet before he has to back up and take another run at it. Schools and businesses in town are all closed today. They are predicting more snow and sub zero temperatures for next weekend. I'm glad we aren't calving yet and that we shipped the calves last week!

Yikes! 😲 That doesn't sound good.
Mr FH had hip replacement surgery Dec 30. Yesterday he got in the big JD tractor and plowed us out to the highway. Thank God for great equipment in order to deal with these snow storms. Not so long ago, they
didn't have the machinery we have today.
I sure hope you get a break, deff.
What is your nearest town? We lived in Montana for 40 years.

I'm next to the Snowy Mountains just south of Lewistown.

Yes, It is a short growing season, high snowfall place. It is unusual to get that much wet snow in January. We often have a late spring storm similar to this, but by then, it can melt off almost as fast as it came. This is probably only the second or third time in over 50 years that I didn't get my cows fed during a storm. My oldest son is home due to his employer being closed today. He is out plowing and feeding with a tractor and my youngest is home helping out and is plowing and feeding with my loader. I'm standing by in case they want me to come roll out bales with the Hydrabed on my military truck. I think they plan to try to get everything fed and plowed out today so I can feed with the truck the rest of the week. It isn't very often that there is more snow than a chained up, 6x6 military truck can go through.

That's a lot of snow. Here on the coast three inches puts everyone in a dither. Have you got the bulls fed? 😟

Yes we did. Everything's fed. The bulls are in a small pasture alongside the county road, so we were able to plow them out and drop off a bale after the snowplow went by. Now we are working at clearing the driveway so my wife can go to work tomorrow.
