I took my grandsons and a neighbor's boy (ages 8, 9, & 12) to my cousins ranch North of Canon City CO today. I wanted my grandsons to see where their Great, Great, Great Grandfather had homesteaded. The place has been in our family over 100 years. We climbed about 1500 feet in elevation over a couple of miles. The way was rocky and rough in places. The boys were willing to turn back or quit a few times, but I gave them the opportunity to just wait until I returned and they chose to stay with me all the way to the top of Little Sheep Mountain. They were well pleased with their accomplishment and really enjoyed the view for 15 minutes before the descent. Back at the bottom, I showed them the place where we had been and asked them "If I had asked you before we left if you wanted to climb that mountain, would you have? Durham's reply was "No way, cause I didn't think I could. I told them that life was that way. If we just follow the Lord one day at a time, there will be times we want to quit or go back, but if we'll just keep going, He'll take us to heights we never thought possible. When I told my wife this story, she said "so, is that your good Sunday mornin tomorrow? It's different than what I had planned, but it seemed like a good one at that, so there you have it--Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin, and a good rest of the week.

Thanks Shortgrass- Definitely is a beautiful morning in Gods country....Been having a ball watching all the deer hunters slip and slide around in the muddy gumbo roads- as the deer are bedding down just south of my house, out of road vision :D

For some reason, Shortgrass that one jerked a tear this morning.
I too look forward to your posts.

That is another very nice "sermonette", Shortgrass. Thanks for reminding us to "just hang in there" and "keep on keeping on", putting our trust in God one day at a time. John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

Thanks shortgrass. You do a great job relating the bible and God's word to our daily lives.

Our minister just left, thus we are short of one. Would you like to apply? You'd service two rural congregations. I'm serious, although I kinda doubt you'd leave your ranching life in SE Colorado, but we could also help with the ranching life, would just be in North Central SD. PM me if you'd be interested.

Have a wonderful Sunday and week!

Cheers---

Thankyou, and no. I also am serious on both accounts! I came to the conclusion years ago that God needs people whos will stand for him in the work-a-day world worse than men who will stand for him in the pulpit. A rancher is called to his ministry as a pastor is called to his ministry, or so I see it. Appreciate the thought.
