I remember a Memorial Day branding held several years ago. I had invited a feller from a church in town that wanted to drag a few calves. On Sunday, he asked if he could bring his dad, who hadn't seen a branding in years. "Sure" says I. Next morning, people start showing up. I had invited a crew of about 12 to 15 people. Well this feller had invited about that many or more spectators! There were more people with cameras and an appetite, than there were with gloves. My wife and mother-in-law fed about 35 for dinner. It was a circus that I have managed to avoid since that day. I remember a lady at that same church that used to do a special occasionally. She always sang the same song, and did a great job. I never tired of it. The lyrics were written as though the Lord was speaking and said something along the lines of "everyone wants to sit at My table, but no one wants to work in My fields." If this life were a branding held by the Lord, would you be a part of the crew ready to contribute all you could to put His mark on a few critters, or would you simply be a spectator to watch the show and help eat the dinner? Sometimes it's good to ask the hard questions. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week.
