LAST WEEK, YOU MAY REMEMBER SOAPWEEDS REPLY:

"Great analogy, Shortgrass. We need to always use our God-given "B.S. detectors" when subjected to temptations of the devil. That is what Peach Blossom and I are trying to instill in our daughter, who is coming out of the cult mode she was in for nearly four years.

We recently mentioned to her that when she first got in the deal red flags were going up all around us, but we just couldn't get the message conveyed to her. I tell her now that she needs to keep her "B.S. detector" finely tuned and in constant readiness. As an example, one of the coolers that had seen corral time got in the house. There is a splotch of brown "bovine residue" on the top of this cooler. Every time I walked by it I would go "beep beep" showing her how a B.S. detector is supposed to work. She got the message.

Only a relationship with the Lord and studying God's Holy Word will keep our B.S. detectors oiled and ready for battle with Satan. In our daughter's defense, it was her constant studying of the Bible and the hand of the Lord that woke her up and made her realize that she had been listening to lies and deceit. It was also the power of prayer from so many good folks and internet friends that helped to accomplish this deed. Thank you, everyone."

Last week, when Soapweed posted this reply, I thought that is another topic for next week. I refer to no one but self when I think of "running the red lights" or ignoring stop signs. I remember some near disastrous decisions that I have made. In each case, I remember some uncomfortable feeling or thought provoking comment someone made that I ignored, and went on with a wrong coarse of action because of something I wanted or because pride would not let me reverse a decision before it was too late. When you are experiencing a "gut feeling" or some other beeping that may be the BS Detector, at the very least, wait!!!!!!!!!! Wait until completely comfortable with a big decision-like marriage or moving or career change before going ahead. God may be trying to tell you something. Like E.F. Hutton, when God talks, people ought to listen. Have a good Sunday mornin', and a great rest of the week too.

It was truly a miracle of God and the answer to prayer that our daughter is back home. We feel very blessed, and she is enjoying being free.

Early decisions in life are sometimes brushed aside as "youthful indiscetions," but they can have lasting consequences. (Any aspiring politician running for public office can testify to this. )

Thanks, Shortgrass, for the reminder to watch for red lights and stop signs. God gave us all a conscience to be used in this manner, but there is one problem with our consciences. They work real well at the beginning, but with constant over-riding, they become calloused and of little use. They can become so deadened that they don't work at all.

Thank you Shortgrass. Excellent post as always reminding me that I ought to take my foot off the gas peddle and wait. As an adolescent, I ain't so good at doin' that more often than not. Good Sunday mornin' and I wish all the rest a good day and a great rest of the week too.
