Good Sunday Mornin'

Last night, on the way home from a game, I came on a pickup that was greasy side up in the ditch. In the dark, I did not recognize it at first. When I got the door opened, a neighbor that is a good friend climbed out. He was fine. He left me with the impression that he did not feel that this was an "accident". I talked with him later today, and told him I could relate. I have experienced an "accident" that was carefully orchestrated by the Lord for the sole purpose of getting my attention. Long story short, He and his wife came over this evening and we walked the "Romans Road". He asked the Lord to save him. Jan has had a plaque hanging on her wall since she was a 5th grader, and on our wall all of our married life, that was given her by her Sunday School teacher. The plaque said "I will give thee a crown of life". The Sunday School teacher was this man's grandmother. Jan gave him the plaque. Folks, I think that is neat. I can relate to the time Jesus had spoken with the Samaritan woman at the well, and He told His deciples that "I have meat to eat that ye know not of". I can relate to that statement right now. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a great rest of the week. GOD IS GOOD, AND IS STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF CHANGING LIVES!

Too bad us humans need big scares to move us to see the truth. I regularly require the 2x4 treatment. Good thing God is always at work. Angels are dancing tonight!

That was quite an interesting story, Shortgrass, and one with a happy ending. I know your house wall will look like it is missing a key component with the inspirational plaque missing, but what a nice gesture for Jan to give it to the young man whose grandmother had given it to her. This will really mean something to him, and will be a visible token of how his life has been changed. Undoubtedly his grandmother's prayers for him have been answered, even if decades of time have elapsed since they were first offered. God is good.

I told him that he may have heard of someone "rolling over in their grave", but this time there is someone's grandma doing cartwheels in heaven    I think back over the years of people we have prayed for in the community that did not attend but have become faithful attenders, and I got 4 or 5 couples. Sometimes it seems that we are getting nowhere in praying for the lost, but I contend it makes more sense to talk to God on their behalf than to try to talk to them on God's behalf. Not that there is not a place for witnessing to them, but that comes later.

Great story Shortgrass! Goes to show how even in the midst of something bad God can change it into something good. With Him all things are possible!

And like Soapweed pointed out, thanks to Jan for giving up something very special to her that now is even more special to this man.

I have a couple such items from both my maternal and paternal grandmothers which of course are worth virtually nothing monetarily in a worldly sense.

Regardless, I can't say if it came right down to it that I would easily give them up to anyone else either! Shortgrass, as you already know, your better half has a very generous heart and spirit!

Just an update.....He came forward in the service this AM, and gave a testemony of how the Lord had been working on him for a week or two, culminating in the accident and subsequent decision. Great day at Kendrick! This evening, he was telling me of 3 guys he wanted to go see, because they too have been having some tough times. Reminds me of when the Lord said "lift up your eyes, the field is ripe for harvest." Makes me wonder how blind have I been!

I know all about the talking to someone on Gods behalf and not getting any where. I was one of those that didn't want to hear it until circumstances were right and then I was ready to listen and make the choice to follow Him.
