Ranching is sure different than it once was. Trucking has pretty well shut down trail drives. DNA testing has the capabilities of telling us which heifers will be easy keepers or easy calvers. ATVs have sure made a huge impact. Yet it still boils down to rain and grass as to whether we have a "good year." Those are the same things that Abraham depended on! Some things never change. James tells us that there is no variation or hint of changing in God's character. What does that mean to you and me? Think about Shadrach, Daniel or David. Think about Joshua, Esther or Elijah. God is the same one who worked in their behalf for His behalf. We dare not say the God would not or could not do that in our lives. Have a good Sunday mornin', and a great rest of the week, too.

You got that right, Shortgrass! With ranching being in drought for almost 10 years God has certainly blessed us around here. A year ago the drought was broken here and this spring there's been more rain and looking like more grass than I've seen in my lifetime.

It's got to the point that we would willingly share with the "precipitationally challenged" in order to get a few jobs done. I might have to invest in some hip waders to get some of my fencing done this year. :roll: :D

Thanks, Shortgrass. Yes, our God is the same God that created the Universe. Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever."

That is why His truths and teachings will always remain the same, even though modern mankind thinks they have become sophisticated and that God's truths no longer apply. Guess who gets the last word? :-)

Have a great Sunday, everyone. We were planning to brand yesterday, but due to last minute confugalties with our small crew, we put the project off until today. Hope to get done in time that we can attend church services this evening.

Kinda nice to have a steady influence in our lives when things are always changing...Thx Shortgrass,great message :)

Hugs to Jan!

With all the uncertainty and troubles of this world....it's good to have one unwavering truth, an anchor, in this life. Thanks Shortgrass and Good Sunday morning to all here at Rancher's.

Psalm 18:2 (New International Version)

2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Today at church we observed "Good Shepherd Sunday". On the way home I listened to the "local" Lutheran service radio broadcast. They were also using the same reading cycle my church follows.

This year the text was from John 10: 11-18 where Jesus declares he is the good shepherd and a good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.

This reminded me that Dad was always amused to hear city born and raised pastors preaching about sheep and shepherds. When he talked about how meek and mild mannered sheep are Dad told our pastor flat out that he didn't know @#$% about sheep. :roll: :lol: :wink:
