This senseless shooting of innocent first graders and staff members in Connecticut has left many of us with a sick feeling in our gut. It makes the book of Jonah real. Jonah was asked to go to Nineveh; that would be the equivalent of asking me to talk to that young gunman, had he survived, about the gospel of Christ. Jonah went only because God made him, and sure enough, Nineveh repented, and God saved them. Jonah was angry. God asked him if he was right to be angry, and Jonah said something to the effect of "you're darn tootin I have a right to be mad. These are evil people who have murdered and tortured little children and good honest, hard working folks. They don't deserve to be saved, they should rot in Hell! God then said that Jonah cared more about the grass on his place than the souls of men. The book of Jonah ends on that note. How much like Jonah ol' Shortgrass is…….. Have a good Sunday mornin', and God bless.
