My two nieces, Myra (2 lbs 4 ounces) and Claire (2 lbs, 10 ounces) came a might earlier than expected. They had to be taken out via C-section because some complications arouse (some sort of infection) that required them to be taken out ASAP.

But the new mom's doing fine, and so is Claire, but Myra, she's had a tough go of it since she came out of the womb. She's the one who's been most affected by this infection, and she can't breathe on her own, and had to have some nitrous (or is it nitric?) oxide put into her lungs to keep them from collapsing and help her breathe. She's also had to have some spinal fluid drawn from her to test for meningitis, and of course she's giving the nurses a hard time about it because she seems to not like being handled too much. So we're praying that she'll keep on fighting and she'll get over this critical stage she's in. But at least I got a chance to go down to see them, they're such beautiful babies!! :D

I forgot to take the camera with me, but I'll post some pics that her pa will give me, once I do get them.

Congrates I  Alta.beef...Babies are tough, they fight like crazy, even when so tiny. When you get another chance take and post pics. :)

What a wonderful blessing- a two-fer! Congratulations. We'll be praying for the little ones to come through this with splendid health and for their mom's recovery.

Thanks. It's gonna be quite a rolloer-coaster ride these next 12 weeks, but those two girls are quite the fighters, especially Myra. Her new grandpa says she reminds him of me when I was little. (I was a bit of a holy terror when I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Must've bin the Swede and Scot genes kickin' in. )

Prayers to you and the families...... And also hugs.......
Our youngest son was premature and the little girl next to us was 22 weeks...... You have a good road ahoe yet....... But hang in there as these precious little babies are real fighters...... Keep us (me) informed cuz I know exactly what your family is going through....... And trust me in saying it's all worth it!!!!

In todays World premies have a great chance to overcome most everything...I know your two girls will be just fine...

Our hired man and his wife had premie twins last May..12wks early, and today they are little chunks! Had a few tense moments, but they were tuff country kids from the start! Can't wait to see pictures of yours!!!

THanks everyone, I appretiate it. I will keep everyone up-to-date with them...and that's to be expected from a first-time Auntie!

Update:

Claire has been in her incubator for quite some time now, breathing on her own, and being orally fed milk from her mom (milk taken from her mom and froze for storage). The new mom's been able to hold Claire three times already.

Myra has been taken off the nitrous oxide, but the nurses found she's bleeding a little from between her heart and lungs, and she's still on the oxygen machine. She's hanging in there, and she was very responsive to her new dad when he just lightly laid a hand on her back: she calmed down immediately.

And I'm sitting here imagining what kind of little holy terrors they're gonna be 3 or 5 years from now.
