Steers have been on pasture for over a week now, and the grass is VERY IMPRESSIVE this year!!! And I can already see the difference in how they're doing...couldn't get any healthier cattle, that's for sure!

Hello there!!

We missed you!

RAX on the left is a big guy...taller than his followers

Right after this pic ALL of the herd gathered around me, forming a nice circle around me. Obviously they were happy to see me and came up to say hi and see if I had a treat for them. ;-)

Good looking steers. They look like they died and went to Heaven.

This reminds me of a Hereford cow dispersion many years ago. The cows had always lived a luxurious life, with all the feed and care they could ever want. Another rancher bought a couple truck-loads of these cows at the sale barn. He wasn't particularly known for taking top care of his livestock. One of the local wags commented, "I'll bet those Hereford cows think they died and went to hell." :?

But your steers look real good, IluvAltaBeef. Thanks for the tour.

Sure looks good.

Your yearlings look to be bigger than most of the ones they sent me this year. Oh well, these were real green and got no where to go, but up!

Maybe I'll take a few pix of them and post them here for them purebred breeders who think theirs is the only kind, to laugh at.

You got those boys just right to go to grass-we got our yearlings out last week but not quite as shiny as yours are. They'll grow through their hides on that kind of grass.

THanks. Like I said, they were only on pasture for just over a week, and will probably be bigger and more filled out by the time they're taken off and sold. I think they did die and go to Heaven, they're that happy. :D I'm guessing they're around 800-900 lbs already, the majority of them at least, and the Limosine and Charolais crossbred steers look like they're really going to fill out nice, if they haven't already.

And those darn Angus steers, they're the worst pets...  ...I have one that comes up to me to sniff/eat at my hand or coveralls, AND he's got a 1 1/2 foot flight zone, probably the smallest compared to the rest of the cattle. Sometimes I have to twist his ear a little to get him to back off. No wonder I like black cattle as much as I do! :D
