The grass is startin to pull away from the grazers. We don't need any rain but got some comein. Were not complainin, we got some room for some so its still welcome. We got my boy enroled in the ai/pregcheck in collage station, out side of houston tex. We got a friend that lives close and he can stay with her. Then I got a way he can get some experence with some cattle fresh off bein checked. So, gettin all that done let's me know that the old stud possum, the driven force is still worth a ear or 2 of corn and a flake of hay and a carrot now and then. I'm glad he wonts to take a look at the ai. I know there's a lot more to it than a 4 day corse but its enough to let him know if he might be interested in it.

Just tell him to be prepared goin into their class that there is class room time. If ya pay attentin in there you learn alot about nutrition, heat detection, and all sorta things before you ever go work on the cows. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. And learned a tremendous amount.

Also, at the end of the deal, they give you a discount on buying your A-I equipement. I took advantage of the deal at the time and bought the lower end kit. It's had everything I needed in it, except a semen tank.

The cows we worked on, were old packer cows. Some bred early some bred almost to term some in between. The bramers are the hardest ones to figure out on the inside. Cuz all their insides are big, loose and floppy like their outsides LOL

Yea, it talked about class room time as well as bringin some boots to get nasty in time. I dought we'll be buyin any ai equiptment but he was interestested. Who's goin to let a almost 18 year old kid ai yet any way? But I'm glad he's interested. He might gleen somethin from it for later.

He'll also learn how to palpate. They have a test on that on one of the days. You have like 10 head, the teachers have already gone thru and palpated all of them and know how they are bred. Then each student goes thru and has to palpate each one and tell the teacher how they think it's bred.

Big muddy, yall know the ai business and the people that do ai. Down here, there's plenty of pure bred breaders but I don't no any of them so I have know conections to get him started. I sure won't him to learn it and he does to but it would be somethin he can do a little later if that's where he's headin.
