I was looking at a 5' bush hog I bought new in about 1972 but have not used for probably about 20 years :? since I started using 15' batwings.

I have a lot of pasture that is ridge tops and draws that are hard to clip for weeds :( and as such have become rose bush and hedge apple thickets. They are next to impossible to use a tractor and bushog in. :x

Then I had a brainstorm. :D :o I cut the tongue and axle off the bushog, turned the gearbox around, plated the entire back and half the left side with heavy steel, added a hydrolic motor off an old salt spreader box, hinged a quick tach plate to the rear, put two chains from the top of the quick tach plate to the front of the bushog and hooked it up to the bobcat. I have about $50.00 and 20 hours invested.

This has worked 10 times better than I had hoped! :D :D I never realised the blades protrude about 2" :? in the middle of the front and as such if I center on trees a 4" tree takes about 2 seconds to fell right at ground level :) and the deck pushes it away from you as you cut. Going through the rose bushes is a blast! :D :D

Everyone on the place wants to trim electric fence now. :P You can go at a angle and mow about 18" on the far side as you go. I cut everything off the top of the deck that was no longer needed so it is smooth and slips right under the fences.

I cannot post pictures here but if anyone wants to see it PM me and I will provide pictures that you can post back to this site.
