No wonder you folks stay so slim, trim, and good-looking. Glad you got it all under cover before it got wet.

We tempted fate and a fifty percent chance of rain all day yesterday by haying down in a swamp. We got it all baled and unloaded onto high ground, but I'd have gladly sacrificed it for a good rain. :? :-)

In this kind of "iffy" and usually wet swamp-type country, I always bale the highest ground first. Then while the baler is tying twine, I use that time to back up or drive onto high ground before unloading it. I also "sort" the hay as it is being baled. If there are rushes in the same windrow as better quality hay, I put all rushes into some of the bales and better hay into others.

Saddletramp hauls the hay off the field, six at a time, and he piles the swamp hay into separate piles from the better hay. This makes winter feeding easier.

Looks like your "hay crew" does a fine job. Those bales are sure nice to have in the barn...but it's the getting em there thats work! Glad the hay and you didn't get wet...sweating don't count. We ended up with about and inch & half of rain, so water is standing this morning, I'll bet our hay crew wishes they were haying, cause instead they all went and dug out a tank..not a fun job..lol
