We had one and really liked it, but I can't give you any cost to run it.
We've had 3 of them, (different models) but didn't have to repair or
buy parts for any of them. They are a good machine.
We ordered ours with a scale underneath and that sure helped to know
how much we were feeding. We bought some hay one time and the
weight on the bales was 1300#. When Mr. FH picked them up with the
loader they didn't seem that heavy. So when he put them in the Haybuster
and weighed them they weighed 1000# or less, so he took a load to town and weighed them with the same outcome. So we called the people we bought the hay from and they adjusted the weight. I have no idea where
the 1300# weight came from, but that scale paid for itself right there.
The scale was a $2500 add-on. I felt saving 50 ton of hay at $50 would
pay for the scale.
When we sold the cows, we sold the 2650 to the family that leases our place and he uses it faithfully to feed with, as did we.
What Mr. FH liked about it for feeding calves is that you can make the windrow so narrow that there isn't as much waste when feeding calves.
They have to learn how to eat. Sounds odd, but they do.
