I will say this and probably shouldn't, but I was impressed that the majority of the Black Angus catalogs that I saw had tested for the defect or simply pulled all bulls from the sire with the defect. I was extremely dissapointed that it wasn't the case at all in the Red Angus catalogs that I recieved. I didn't attend any of these sales, so maybe it was mentioned at the sale, but I just thought it was extremely wrong to have Romeo sons and grand sons when he was a known carrier. With the updated list of bulls, I could have a few carriers, but I sure as heck pulled all my Romeo Grand Sons and daughters once I knew about the problem. I just don't get why anyone would risk a customers herd by selling a bull from a known carrier. Sorry for the rambling!
