Hello you fine folks. I will be leaving tomorrow, for a trip to Dallas, for some training for my job. I just barely thought to tell you all and see if anybody is close by? I will be in Dallas all week and fly home on Saturday, July 25th. On a side note, I am open for suggestions on things to do while I am there. As a long time Dallas cowboys hater  , I will not need to visit anything related to that team. :D But I do plan to visit the stockyards and hopefully the Rangers ballpark in Arlington. Will be in school all day but will get out around 5 each day and 1 o'clock on Friday. If there is a cool museum or other such things to see, I'd be sure happy to hear about them. Thanks in advance! :D

My sister lives there. My bil said hard to know where to send you without knowing interests. Said lots of good stuff to see. But then again his interest and mine aren't exactly the same either. ;). He gave me this website where he always looks to see what's going on. http://www3.dmagazine.com/events/Search/?dateRange=This+Weekend

Hope it helps

Should also add I have never been there. Mom and dad visited last fall. They went to billy bob's in fort worth. They watched bull riding and got to see some big name county musician the same night. Looks like you can see Tracy Lawrence or Wade Bowen this weekend.

Best Hat Store...Stockyards....Cowtown...
If you need a new lid, straw or felt, Danny & the crew will take good care of ya.

Whataburger is a good place to eat, and if you can stand yardbird, Church's Chicken does it better than most.

It's 11:15 pm CST as I type this, and we're on our way home from Phoenix. Just rolled through Winslow, so breakfast will likely be in Tucumcari. This time we'll see the XIT Ranch feedlot by Dalhart in the daytime. Have a good trip!

H, you sure didn't give anybody much time to respond - LOL. You posted this Sunday night and I PM'd you early Monday morning. But, I guess that was too late, because you still haven't checked back in and read your PM's. You must be really busy, having lots of fun, or else they don't have internet access in Dallas. :lol2:

If anybody has his cell number, call him or shoot him a text and let him know he's got a PM relevant to his trip, please.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, except BMR :D . I had a wild and eventful trip to the lone star state and returned late yesterday. I did not see Texan's post or PM until I got back as I completely forgot to even check here on Ranchers. I been telling ya'll I am an idiot for years and maybe now you'll believe me. :D I flew to Denver but didn't get off the plane and then went on down to Love Field in Dallas. Picked up the rental car which had the shape, size and safety characteristics of a wet Copenhagen can and headed to Arlington where my hotel was at. Can I just say that a 2 track dirt road is much different than 6 or 7 lanes of concrete going in one direction with exits off both sides and 72.7 million people trying their best to drive like a nascar race!!! Holy COW!!! Made it to the hotel and found the location of the training place I would attend. School was from 8 til 5 each day and didn't leave much time for site-seeing. But I probably wouldn't of done much anyway as I am not afraid to admit the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area intimidated the heck out'a me! I did get with a fellow training attendee and we drove up to the Cabelas store. We also planned to go to the Stockyards area in Fort Worth but freeway construction quickly kiboshed that idea. I would love to see the parts of Texas that aren't covered in concrete and totally understand every major city has the same things in common. I am happy to be back on the desert. I saw a grand total of 3 cowboy hats from the time in landed in Dallas til I departed for home yesterday. 1 of them was my own. I saw 2 ranch-hand looking guys wearing straw hats in Cabelas. That was it! Not that a cowboy hat makes the man, but I just kinda thought I'd see a few more. Guess I am naïve eh? :D It was an interesting trip and I survived. I will be returning in 6 months for the last part of my underground high voltage certification training and will get with Texan and any others wayyyyyyyy before I go to get some ideas. Thanks again for your help.
Regards,
H'

At least you accomplished getting home all in one piece....
I think you will see more cowboy hats when you are at the Stockyards. At least we did. :D
We saw 5.

We have a horse trainer friend that lives at Aubrey. We'd never get to see him if we had to go through Dallas-Ft. Worth
to get there. He is from Montana and he wears a cowboy hat sometimes...not always...

I was peddling that little Chevy Cruze for all she would go and they were all passing me like I was tied to a hitching rail! :D :D I agree with you Gcreek!!! Oh, how I agree!
