Yesterday...before the rain set in..we finished up the last 60 head of calves to brand. The guy who roped the calf and was TRYING to bring it back to the pen, found himself in a tight spot..lol Not to mention people were scattering...cows were on the moooove...and I was standing there...ya know got to get that perfect shot!...Other than that we managed to wrangle the rest of the afternoon with no problems...lol

Those last two pictures were awesome! I love watching a storm brewing. You have quite the eye for what makes a great picture, Jassy.

P.S. Thanks for the butt picture, too! :)

Awwww...thanks...
I don't know why he didn't dallyup,,,and yes he kept the calf on line...the cow finally got out of the loop...

It wouldn't be a good branding without a good wrangler butt to look at!

Nifty action sequence, Jassy. Nice pictures.

Your roping photos remind me of a wreck I got into back a long time ago. I was tied hard and fast, and took after a calf that got out at a branding. My horse was going full tilt when I caught the calf. I knew there was a highline pole nearby, but I didn't realize that there was a cable "dead-man" coming off of the pole. The calf went on one side of the cable and the horse and I went on the other side. The calf and I just about kissed each other on our lips when the rope came tight, but fortunately we all emerged in one piece. :?

Your story, Soapweed, reminds me of the same thing that happened over on Roan Creek, CO. Some boys were chasing wild horses, when an ol' boy caught a horse that went on one side of a cedar. The horses were both cold-cocked, but all three survived. Great pictures that beat telling it by words.

Great action shots Jassy. Your camera must be a lot fancier camera than mine, cause I don't think this one would snap pictures in such rapid sequence.

Rain has a way of making all our worries disappear in this dry country. :-)

Great action shots Jassy!!!!! Poor lil calf looks like he got the bad end of the deal that time LOL Ole red cows lookin like she's gettin herself outta the way quick.

We had fella one time that come to help us get some cows back in that had gotten over into a neighbors thicket. He roped one, on the run, cow went on one side of a tree, horse n rider on the other side......horse ended up with all fours up in the air in a ditch.......meanwhile he jumped off....hollered at his horse to stay there.....ran to go tie the cow. After that was accomplished he come back to his horse, felt all his legs........then told him to "git up" horse jumped up...shook himself off....and he got back on. That horse is the same one that had the broke leg that he ended up givin to Lil Lilly and she done so much work rehabilitatin him. I bet he thinks he's livin the good life now LOL
