hi ya'll
just thought i'd drop a line to let ya'll know were still alive

just to catch ya'll up on the happenings here in the last month
i took a job down at post texas
we moved down there and i went to work the country was great
the horses we very nice and broke right for the most part
but the owner lived right there at the camp i had and i don't think jesus crist himself could have made that man happy
so i quit and we moved evything back up here to amarillo and put it in storage for a while so i can look for a job
the family will be staying with my inlaws till i can find a better place to work
i think i am going to las vegas new mexico in the next day or two to do some day work on a place that needs a hand
to see if we get along before we move out there
if that doesn't work out i have a bunch of colts lined up to start so we will have some income anyhow
well i'm back on the hunt for a job so if anyone knows of somthing good let me know and i'll check it out
thanks in advance
until later
jerry

Jerry, You would be thrilled to work at Douglas! There isnt a nicer set up anywhere. Family is the most important thing with this large ranch and they really appreciate there employees!

Jerry----don't know if you'd be interested, but there is a 400,000 acre ranch outside Cody, wyoming looking for a cowboy!!! pay is good (had a friend who now works there and pay is PRETTY GOOD!), housing is available and they carry insurance on you and the family starting from day #1!!!!

That ranch in Cody Wyo would be the 'Hoo Doo', an' they typically run help-wanted ads lookin' for 'Cowboys' on the avg of 4x a year, but thier number is: 307-587-6223.

The 'Z X' outfit over in Oregon was also runnin' an ad just last week. By far the best of the two outfits to ride for.

Ha ha ha maybe pay wise but not cowpuncher wise ^^^ , you wanna work for a cow outfitt you should stay in Arizona , New mexico or Texas , somewere you stay horse back and dont have to put up hay or change water in the fields . I have been north and worked in nevada and thats bout far north as i wanna go . Had a good friend worked for the zx and he hated every minnute of it to much rain , to many long ropes and slow cattle and slow cowboys . :) :) :) :) :) ha ha that ought to get a rise out of the bunch .

There is more to life than increasing it's speed...eventually, even the BEST of us slow down...

But I will admit...there was certainly more 'comaraderie' amongst the 'punchers on the Diamond A in Seligman, than I had ever experienced among ANY of the 'Big Three' crews up in Tuscarora.

And there ARE ways to avoid the farming (haying/irrigation) up here in the northern Tier...it just takes alot of patience and honesty, between the employer and employee.

Yessir, that name does ring a bell, so I do believe we might've shook hands once; I'm known for chasing down any riding job I can find (day-work or seasonal) handling cattle, so I've surely covered some country over the yrs...but I do tend to keep to myself, so it's very doubtful that Rowdy would recall having met me.

Well, first of all I'm not a sir.... :P

Rowdy works for someone there that runs yearlings, I think.
He fills in at the Melstone Bar from time to time. He is a grandson
of the fine folks that were our neighbors in W. Montana. He's a
good hand and a heck of a fine person. I've known him for years.

Keep an eye out for him. If you run into him, tell him Karen said "hi".

thank you all
i will check into these leads
but i bet we won't get to far from the panhandle as we have kids now and i have seen this country from one end to the other so i don't have the itch to roam as much as i did when i was younger
if i could talk my wife into moving to wyoming we would be gone by now as i have lots of friends up there and would love to go back but i guess not
canada would be great i think i knew some folks that worked on the gang ranch and seemed to get along good
well i went and talked to a fella about a job today just up the road close to dalhart and it's a big outfit so it's all horseback
but only time will tell
and i'm waiting for a fella to call me back from new mexico "monte"
i liked the sound of that job so we'll se
well thanks again

Hey Jerry,

When are you going to get out?? oops, I mean, when are you going to get another job. I heard you quit that one down on the Ellis farm! (or was that Sugar land) anyway I am glad to hear you got computer privilages again. I tried your phone but they said your phone privilages were suspended?
Try to keep up with my number, and call me when you get settled. Maybe you need to call Darren?? He might get you a real cowboy job up his way?
I miss you shooting at me now and then, hurry up and get settled and get back on here!
