Herd management software

I'm a big fan of Cowsense...I've used it for more than 10yrs now, and when I do have problems the tech support is helpful, though pricey. There are alot of good programs out there, the key is to find one that suits your operation...Good luck

I use CattleMax. I like it, and it came recommended by the ranch manager for a major cattle breeder. Tech support is fast and free. They're now working on developing handheld device (PalmPilot) software to coordinate with it.

And I use Ranch Manager. Which I really like. It is easy to work, one of the cheaper ones out there and the tech support is really good.

Wow! That's a good price, and they already have a PalmPilot/PDA edition. The price and the lack of PDA software are serious drawbacks to CattleMax.

I don't know what the PDA software is like. Don't have that here at the moment, but it is something to think about. It is a good program, and if there is something missing, or that you think would be good to have, let them know, and they will probably add it in. The biggest part that I like is their technical assistance.

We use Cowsense, too. I like the program, it is easy to use. I also like their field forms, however, I would like the option to customize them somewhat. We get data back on our critters, and can put that easily into Cowsense so we can go back to the Dam to see how her offspring do. :)
