I am looking for herd management software any ideas which is the best for the money?

I'm a big fan of Cowsense...I've used it for more than 10yrs now, and when I do have problems the tech support is helpful, though pricey. There are alot of good programs out there, the key is to find one that suits your operation...Good luck

I use CattleMax. I like it, and it came recommended by the ranch manager for a major cattle breeder. Tech support is fast and free. They're now working on developing handheld device (PalmPilot) software to coordinate with it.

And I use Ranch Manager. Which I really like. It is easy to work, one of the cheaper ones out there and the tech support is really good.

We use Cowsense, too. I like the program, it is easy to use. I also like their field forms, however, I would like the option to customize them somewhat. We get data back on our critters, and can put that easily into Cowsense so we can go back to the Dam to see how her offspring do.

Thanks for all the info We also run some share cows with our herd so need to have the option of sorting cows by ownership if possible.

Ranch Manager will give you that option. I don't know about the others.
