hey northern rancher

Ohh boy I can't wait-is it in a plain brown wrapper lol. How is your old Maverick cow doing I was just thinking of her the other day. Pretty sad huh-I'm reduced to daydreaming about somebody elses old cow.

S.S.A.P,Greg and I enjoyed your website,NICE horses!!!!! Greg got a email from a guy at Evansburg, with a trained dog so we're going to look at it,If it doesn't work we'll be heading out your way to Dales!

Sorry about digging this one up from the bottom of the pile.

Northern rancher did you get it (pun intended) - the something EXTra special? I ask because some others haven't received their's and I was wondering how big of a chunk I had to chew off of Canada Post.

Big Muddy rancher did you get yours?

Thanks for the kind words Mrs. Greg. How did you make out with the dog hunt - far be it for me to wish you bad luck 8) but maybe you will be heading to Dale's ??

Yes I got my Bull sale catalog. Very good looking set of bulls. I watch those Rainmaker bulls every year. I had sons off of old 340 back in the 90's that i bought down at Jordan MT. I was looking at some other bulls and my Dad said you should look at these. Well I think i ended up with 3 of them the next year. Made great cows out of those bulls.

Yes I did we courdroyed a muskkeg and the last mail truck did get in-the bulls are looking great as I knew they would. Hows the old Maverick daughter doing.

Not sure yet,Greg and the guy that has dog in Evansburg, are having a hard time making a date to watch dog work, Greg did call Dale the other day,no answer.Greg really was impressed with how Dale trains his dogs so who knows.Would love to see your horses though!

Another good old bull that kind of got tarred with that brush was Nichols Landmark L56-I'd gladly use up any semen on him that people have kicking around-were going to flush a 15 year old granddaughter of him this spring.

Northern Rancher - my brain is fried as it is! What to heck is "courdroyed a muskkeg"? LOL Whatever it is it sounds like you should do it for all of Canada Post's deliveries!

I forgot to mention the Maverick cow in my post last night. She seen 19 years plus one month and a few days. Her arthritis really kicked in and on top of that she must have went down on the ice and ended up stifled. We couldn't let her suffer any longer  It's a bugger when a person gets attached to a cow. Her 05 heifer is one of the top replacements and her 04 heifer is doing a grand ol' job so far on her calf. Thank goodness she kicked out 2 females as her last two calves as the L daughter came up dry this year. We have her E daughter but she was moved to the commercial herd when she calved in late April as a 3 year old. 11W was always a good bull maker! BTW, she hadn't calved yet - probably was going to be May calf because she wasn't exposed until we pulled the heifer bull.

Faster horses - yes they did short change her on the milk EPD. She brought home one of the top 5 weaning weight calves every year - right up to the '03 weaning. She did fall off with her 04 heifer calf. I kept her and her calf at home last summer and supplemented her with some good hay. She's featured on this page: http://www.southshadow.homestead.com/Blackbird.html
She has the 03 bull calf at side in the picture. That picture is one of my favorites - she has a white nose from age and her calf has a white nose from nursing. Her 05 daughter is near the bottom on this page http://www.southshadow.homestead.com/More_Registered_Cows.html
You'll notice she got preferencial treatment?! - she's the only heifer with a picture :) So all in all she raised 17 calves for two generations of Delorme's - first Don's Dad then us.

Mrs. Greg, I'd be happy to show you through the horses. Another 2 or 3 weeks and the foals start hitting the ground :D It would be a change of pace from showing bulls and heifers (PR time - the heifers sell April 20th).

Northern Rancher - no Landmark here, but if you go to the CAA page:
http://abri.une.edu.au/online/cgi-bin/i4.dll?1=20213329&2=2431&3=56&5=2B3C2B3C3A and stick his name in the name field you'll come up with 392 recorded (Canadian) progeny. Just click on the different tattoo letters to find who used him, might find some that way ... ?

Big Muddy - thanks. We like our 2M daughters. This year all but 2 made replacements - moderate sized, lots of depth and the three, first calvers are a thumbs up! We could use more of his sons by the interest so far.

Well - nothing like a short post! One thing left to do before bed .... rinse the hair dye out :( :? have to look purdy for Saturday! :D
Hey I thing I figured out what "courdroyed a muskkeg" is - sounds like ..............
what I'm doing to my hair right now :D :)

PS I just previewed this ramble - links aren't showing as working in it - hope they do with the actual post. :???:

crap the hyper links didn't work!

I also forgot to let everyone in on my little joke on northern rancher. The EXTra special was all about the influence of N Bar Emulation EXT in our herd. The wild bunch that they are ... LOL - like last year every one of our bulls and heifers can be scratched wherever. We lead a boring life socially I guess  spend a lot of time walking through the cattle. I don't feel to bad about teasing him though - he's the one that was daydreaming about our old 11W cow :D

He's not 100% wrong. (searching for brownie points here!  ) We have a direct daughter of EXT that just won't let us scratch her - she's mellowing though! She's nine years old and finally will stay put when you go by her  :D

PS: the gray is all gone!! :pretty: :liar: :sure:

Welll my EXT's seem wild as compared to their owner I guess yours seem tame compared to theirs  I have to admit your critters are pretty quiet. I'm sure Don in his hunting travels must of driven on a courdroyed trail before lol. Make sure you give that huge black cat a scratch for me too-don't want to get on his bad side. Too bad about your Maverick cow but that's an Angus trait they tend to get old all at once.
