Spent the day helping my cousin get their cows off the mountain. They are in a couple of sections and we gathered and hauled 56 of his and a stray pair and one bull for the neighbors. Pretty day to start out
It's roughly 50 miles from my place around the mountain and out to the ranch. The mountain is my home. Sure love this time of year. Temps were in the 30's this morning warming to 63 today. Made for fun riding around gathering a bunch to corral and start hauling
Most years we drive them the 64 miles across the desert and all or parts of three counties. But that is only on years where we have the feed to stay out til Christmas. This year it was time to go so we hauled them. They seem to be in good flesh.
The sun was headed west like it always does come evening. Made for a pretty serenade to a fine day. Headed back tomorrow for 50 or so head more. Then to find the four pair he is still out somewhere on the mountain. And to think my mother wanted me to become a lawyer???? I wouldn't trade cowboying for a dump truck full of gold bars.
