I'm new to owning horses, and do not know where to start as far as when to call a vet or when to fix the problem myself. One of my horses has developed small blister like skin tags on the side of his muzzle. They atsrted out as just 2 or 3 far apart then are multipling fairly fast now. They are kind of hard and he is now starting to have them spread to the other side of his muzzle. He doesn't act like they hurt when I touch them. Does anyone have advice as what to do? Or even what they may be?
Thanks,
concerned

Sounds like he may have warts. It sometimes happens in younger horses. Usually they will disappear on their own. Through all the years I've owned horses I've only had one youngster that developed warts and they did go away on their own. Here is a little info...

What color is his muzzle? Sometimes horses that have white/pink muzzles have a tendancy to sunburn. Which makes crusty, bumpy places. Hard to explain it.
We have a couple that will do it. Best thing we've found for it, is the baby spf 50 water proof sunblock. Just a lil dab'll do ya.

And welcome to ranchers :D
