And I mean more than just the weather, which hit 75F here for the past few days!
But what I actually am referring to is the atmosphere that a month or so of $4.00 corn can create!
Farms are coming up for sale and getting sold at almost record high prices, surprising even the sellers.
Today a friend of mine had his farm auction, selling all of his equipment and 1 farm. He had the 98 ac. farm (80 workable and systematically tiled, no buildings) advertised last fall for $325,000 and no one wanted it at that ridiculously high price.
But today the same neighbours decided it was too cheap at his asking price and it sold by auction for $370,000CDN.! $4625/workable acre. This is 135-150 bu/ac.corn or 45-50 bu.soy ground.
It didn't hurt to have an excellent line of green equipment either. It all sold very well and I believe that tonite he is a very happy camper.
He is a very deserving farmer who worked very hard to build a successful operation. Of course there are alsways those who are jealous of such success.
But how good a sale does one need if, like him, you have lost most of your health at only about 50 years old?
