Been trying to get our 2 puppies house broke. Seems like everytime I just might have succeded they pee on the floor.
They are put in a dog carrier every night and let out right away in the morning. I go out with them and praise them when they are pooping or peeing outside.
They are allowed in the house. Right after they wake up after a nap I take them outside.
One pup is now starting to refuse to go outside at all. When I go to pick her up she immediately pee's.

I need help. It's driving me crazy.
Oh man one just pooped on the floor.
If this keeps up I might just boot them outside permantly.

Is this a corgi thing? Our newest addition is a corgi mix and we are having a very hard time also. We will put her out actually watch her pee and poop then bring her back in and immediately go again on the floor.

We got our Corgi, Holly, at 5 weeks of age, yes she was a wee little thing. We had her fully trained by 6 or 7 weeks of age. You just gotta be persistent I think...we used the same plan as you ILH. Now, when it is time to go out, she just barks, and out we go.

Good luck, and hope this gets better for you.

Cheers---

TTB

No gcreekrch.    :D

C-E I don't know if it is a corgi thing or not. I normally have them outside for at least 20 minutes or more. They pee at least 3-4 times and poop at least twice. That is first thing in the morning.
Never had this much trouble with our first corgi. Did it the same way.

TTB I just wish they would bark. I can normally catch them sniffing around and call them and get them outside, but the one is not wanting to go out.

I feel for ya..puppy training is frustrating. When I got my Jazzy at 4 months old, she had never been indoors...so we had quite a few accidents at first,,but within a short amount of time I had her going to the door to go out. I took her outside every hour on the hour all day long...fortunatly I was home enuff to do that. Although at nite she sleeps in a kennel and that never seemed to be a problem. My biggest problem was that since we got her in March the weather was awful..snowy and cold,,but I stuck with it and she learned quick to do her duty quick too! Good luck!

One of my goals is to get someone to smile at least once every day. :D

ILH, be persistant. Remember, old age and treachery will overcome youth and exuberance every time! 8)

The best way to keep a puppy from peeing on your house floor is to just get a long-haired type of dog and make them stay outside all the time. If they want to ride around in the pickup, make them ride in the back. This keeps dog hair from becoming imbedded in your seat covers. Works for me. :-)

Fern was 16 wks when I got her. We had few accidents but I've got her ona timed schedule now.

I take her out the same door every time......say the same thing to her while we're out, " Find a spot....hurry up , find a spot"

I did notice that she'd start to drift about when she had to go...and I took that as the ' signal'. Now she goes and sits by the door, sometimes I get a ' woof' if I'm not paying attention like she thinks I should.

Then when we're back in a give her a single piece of dog food as a treat ( as we all know that Corgis will eat till they explode if you let them)

One day she would piddle....then whammo...the next day she was fully house broke, so dont' give up hope.

Fern is still soooooo small still at 5 &1/2 months she's still a house dog...and will prob always be now!!

Works for me. Doesn't work for She Who Cleans House.

Well it was getting better. This cold is really causing problems though.
I just see them sniffing around and I say, "Time to go piddle." they run for the front door and shoot out just as soon as I open it.
Boy do they know when they did wrong and peed on the floor, the drooped ears and sad faces tell it all.
Trying to get them to understand that the house is the home and the yard is the bathroom. They are now sleeping on the front porch outside of the kennel.
