We left here yesterday at 3:30 in the blessed AM, got there in time for his 8:00 appointment with the radiology tech, she got pics of him for his "mask", etc. I'm not sure what all else, cause she wouldn't let me go in with him, but I was only in the waiting room for about 20 minutes, and he said that they did some more stuff, but wasn't sure what or why......
We killed about 4 more hours, waiting for the appointment for the new MRI by wandering around (I got some cool pics of the hospital) the grounds, looking at all the "modern" art sculptures (boy, was that ever wierd! ), then finally went up to the cafeteria "La Cocina" and ate a bite of dinner.........went outside in the breezeway outside the hospital and killed the last hour, then into Radiology. He got signed in, and we commenced to waiting.......and waiting.........and waiting. He was supposed to go in at 2:00......about 3:30, the gal said that MRI had called, and they had an emergency MRI to do, they were getting everything cleaned up and would be calling for him shortly. At 5 till 4, the guy came, and said they were just going to do it in the new facility, and that I could go and wait there for him to finish. So, we meandered around the hospital a while more, then out and into the new part. The tech said I could wait in this tiny little waiting area (it had 4 chairs) till he was finished. He said the first thing the guy wanted to know is what kinda music he liked to listen to......so he told him Country. What kinda country? Old? New? He told him definately old stuff, so the guy switched stations on his XM Satellite Radio, and he got to listen to that while the MRI was going on. He was in there about half an hour or thereabouts (vs. 2 hours approx. in Silver for the first one). We pulled out of the Cancer Center parking lot at straight up 5:00, and were home by 10:30.
The radiology tech said that if we hadn't heard from them by mid-week next week, to call them. Most likely he won't start radiation until the week of Aug. 20.......at the earliest. He's pretty glad, it will give them a chance to get most of the cattle moved to new grazing grounds before he's out of the picture for the duration. They've gone today, to get started with that, up by the state line.
He's still in pretty good spirits, for the most part, especially looking forward to Kit coming up, I think. He said yesterday, that he may take Kit with him up there for a week, or maybe not, cause he'll probably want to chase all those pretty nurses, and not pay any attention to Hubby......
