I'll take a coach's opinion any day over sports writers when it comes to the 97 team. We'd have gutted Meatchicken like a fish, and Meatchicken knew it.

the coaches felt compassion for Osborne and gave him their vote. if he did not announce his retirement, they would have voted Michigan.

I understand your side of the argument, your blinded by the rose colored glasses. but if you should ever look at it objectively , which 90% of the ignorant husker fans do not do, then you would see that it is why the coaches gave Osborne the nod.

you are the sports equivalent to Oldtimer with your constant blind , one sided, ignorant approach to a subject. You are finally coming around to admit that it was the money and lack of ability to compete with Texas for the reasons you left the Big 12....so come a little further to the light, and see that the 1/2 title was a "gimme" and that NU is mediocre at best.
 
You're the one whose ignorance is showing. We most certainly did not lack the ability to compete with Texas, it was getting screwed over by Texas and the other ten members of the Big XII at EVERY TURN. Votes were continually 11-1 in favor of every damn thing Texas wanted. Move the conference HQ to Texas from a neutral site, let Texas decide how the $ gets divided, vote in a new Big XII commissioner who happens to be in Texas' back pocket, then the screw job at the Big XII championship game played in....Texas, and it goes on and on. And the Taters thought they were really sticking it to Nebraska. Then the B1G came calling, offering a way better deal financially, academically, and a deal that was fair, because they wanted US. Then even other schools in the Big XII jumped for a better deal. So one day the Taters woke up with a tramp stamp tattooed above their buttcrack that said "Property of University of Texas Athletic Department". They also found out that no other conference wanted them...so there they are, stuck on the island of misfit toys.

So keep deluding yourself, while Texas does whatever they please in the conference. The Taters deserve everything they get, screwjobs included....they've sure earned it.

BTW...word is that Oklahoma & Kansas may still go to the B1G....if that happens, you can bet Texas will go independent. I'll let you figure out the rest.
 
state legislature is not letting OU or KU leave with out the ag schools in tow.... bill it how ever you want, the rest of the world KNOWS that NU was tired of being kicked to the side like a bench, so they left like pouty little bullies who got their nose bloodied ....
 
It must really suck to be owned not only by Texas but the Kansas legislature. Taters have no control over their own destiny. But you spin it anyway you want it. Taters never let things like facts or truth get in their way of spinning things. They're like Democrats in that regard.

when you are done polishing your Willa Cather doll collection, take time to look around. NO ONE misses the Huskers in the Big 12. NO ONE. we got rid of the problem. we are happy. Go on and be mediocre in the Big 10. We are happy tat you are their problem now.
