Its the time of year when crazy guys like myself starting sending in hunting applications in preparation of the coming fall. I realize some of ya'll don't have to put in for draw hunts. I envy you. But it is fun anticipating and hoping that the tags you want will end up in your mailbox in a couple of months. So here is our list of hunts. Feel free to add your own. We can all get our hopes up together. :D

I applied for a spring bear tag on the La Sal mountains of SE Utah. Should have a great chance of drawing with my 11 preference points. I also put in for an archery deer tag on a high country unit and archery elk on a special draw area I hunted back in 2006. If I luck out and don't draw I plan to buy an over-the-counter elk tag to hunt cow elk and yearling bulls with my bow. Mrs H put in for a premium elk area rifle tag on the San Juan unit. Its just one of the top 5 elk units in the world for monster bull elk so she probably wont draw but there always hope. Her and our daughter applied for deer tags on the muzzleloader hunt at out old stomping grounds in SE Utah. And she bought a bear point in anticipation of going with me on my hunt and drawing a tag of her own in the years to come. We already struck out on limited turkey tags in Utah but plan to hunt the general turkey hunt in May including littlest H who passed hunters safety and is the proud owner of a new .20 gauge shotgun.

I am hoping to go to Idaho for archery elk and someday I will make it to a great friends place in Missouri to chase a white tail. Cross your fingers for us all please. We need all the luck we can get. :D

Well my fabulous streak of luck is still intact! I did not draw a bear tag for the 12th year in a row. Son of a gun! 0-1 is a bad way to start the year in the hunting world. Such is life :)

Dad always put in for an anything deer permit in Kansas. I'm not sure why they call it a draw. He would get an anything every other year. I archery hunted which is just a buy over counter. I'm jealous that you have so many different game to go after. Best of luck.

You will need a break by next fall. :D And your wife, if she's like mine, may welcome you being gone for a week once in a great while. The invite stands, next year or in ten. But if i die you are on your own.

H, you can come for a B'ar up here anytime.

Your bears are big, mean, scary bears! Not sure my bladder could handle the excitement! :D

Man I would love to shoot a grizz with my bow. Someday when you get rich and famous you can hire me to be your ranch varmint specialist.
