A little update; NU just beat #8 Wisconsin (who was being touted as a possible #1 tourney seed) to finish 4th in conf. standings. Not bad for a team that was picked to finish last at the start of the season. We're also one of the hottest teams in the nation, winning 10 of the last 12 and beating two top 10 teams. Probably why our coach was just voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

As a point of interest, our women's basketball lost the regular season title in their last game of the season, but rebounded and won the tournament. Coach Yori was voted National Coach of the Year a couple of years ago....

If neither team wins another game this year, it will still be great year for the Huskers.
 
Nobody can brag about any SEC BB team this year except Florida..........

They could win the NCAA tourney, but then again they could be the only SEC team in it. :roll:
 
Huskers have the hoops rolling indeed. Those old Née teams were pretty stout especially with piatkowski and the Bargen JC transfers. That Devany center was a tough place to play. Even when the red was below 500, the fan support was still pretty strong.
 
Baylor sure put the Huskers in their place. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Well, at least they got to play one game in the big dance. :wink:
 
as much as I want to hop on the husker bball bashing, my Cats went one and done too, so I will politely say, good luck next year....


all I have left is WSU, and hoping to see KU choke.

Has Nebraska ever won even a single game in the NCAA Tourney? Ever?

Correction 7 times with no wins. Sucks to suck I guess. Did anybody else see when Miles got ejected? Quite a deal to get ejected for trying to notify ref of clock not running. He hadn't had a technical all year and got 2 this game. Guy is an awesome coach though.
 
NU played a very talented Baylor team, but I thought superior coaching would carry Nebraska. Drew is a schmuck, but NU isn't quite ready to line up against that much talent. Same for K State, Kentucky has unbelievable talent. When they get things going, they are great. Every day K State has squeaky coaching, OU will have a much better coach that wishes he was back in Kansas.

WSU is in over their head, and their season is about over.

There are 3 coaches in the NCAA that have made untrue disparaging remarks about Coach Self: Drew, Squeeky, and Marshal. I usually support W&K state, but their coaches make it tough.
 
How is wsu over their head. They were in the final four last year and gave national champs their toughest game of the tournament?
 
the NCAA has stacked the deck vs WSU... they are trying to send a message that smaller division teams are welcome, but the perennial powerhouse big name teams is what they want in the final 4.

K-State needs another Frank Martin type coach. that guy had court presence !!

Bruce is a nice guy, but we need a better coach..... where will the North Dakota State coach go??? he really made a name for himself!


I saw Digger Phelps and another guy talking about N Carolina and Kentucky having UPSET wins as a possibility today...when was the last time N Carolina and Kentucky were considered underdogs???


imagine a college football 16 team play off system like this...HEAVEN


last time NU went to the dance....Piatkowsi days???
 
A 16 team Football playoff would mean 4 extra games for some teams on top of a 12 game season.

Little much, don't ya think?

I think the 4 team playoff will do what is intended, that is only to determine the best 2 teams in the nation and let them have at it.

After learning about the mutiny and seeing Martin get suspended at South Car I am glad he's gone. Would love to have Lon Kruger back but I doubt that will ever happen.

Can't believe you would like Frank Martin, he acts about like Pelini on the sidelines.
 
Martin is a good guy that will be a great coach. He got the head job perhapse a little young and makes some mistakes that prove he is learning. He'd make fewer mistakes if he coached under jack Hartman instead of Huggins.

I can't understand why Lonnie can't get a little understanding for his youthful mistakes. I wish he'd coached KSU these last 25 years-they could be a monster program. Jank is cool, but I'm hoping Henson gets the nod pretty soon.

If I said Gardner, Winter, and Fitsimons, how many schools have their background.
 
Yeah piatkowski made some tough NU teams. I think he was from around Ainsworth. It's good to see the small town kids make good.

St John Ks has a big kid that is Ksu bound that might get pretty good, but he'll need a couple years to adjust to big time hoops.

I like the 4 year players. In some ways the 1 and done player is fools gold.
 
1 and done should hold a penalty in the NBA..like 80% of his salary returns to the school he left for 3 years....

Franks intensity and eyeball stare was what I enjoyed... a Pelini on the side line?? perhaps at times, but Frank has more control I think... there are no pictures of Frank wetting himself on the sideline, and there is one of Pelini.....

Frank did some good things but belittling and berating players isn't going to get you very far. When 3/4 of the team shows up in the ADs office saying they are gone if they don't do something the guy has problems. At least Pelini's players like him

I would like to know the full story behind the players wanting Frank gone...has to be more to it. he is an intimidating force. but he has no right to treat players like he did.....

he will find a place that he fits eventually....
