But I had fun building these knives, the big Bowie style knife was hammered out of a leaf spring on a old coal fired crank forge I bought many moons ago at a farm auction near Big Beaver and the anvil it was pounded out on was bought at my Brother in laws grandfathers sale even longer ago. I had a young Aussie here for a few weeks that was knife crazy so I conned  him into cranking the forge.
I know they aren't the pieces of art and fine craftsmanship but it was something I wanted to do for a long time. :cowboy:
The handle is made from a old Ash picket off the ranch but isn't quite what I wanted but will do for now.
The smaller knife is made out of a file heat treated and ground down not done on the forge. It took a real nice edge and I plan to carry it everyday.
The sheath I made was out of a old boot top and scraps from a belt I made for Colt. It has his name from where I was practising so I suppose he will claim this knife from G'pa.
This is the Shut the box game G'ma made for Colt.
