We got hit by a very brief but severe thunder storm last night - 15 minutes and it was done. In that time we got 2/10ths rain and only about 8 bolts of lightening/thunder. Unfortunately one bolt hit very close (or in) our yard - don't see any damage to trees etc but it put the power off in the whole area for a couple of hours. Wow, what a noise the crack of lightening makes when you hear it close up! Certainly caused an electric storm in our house 
- toasted our printer, totaled one phone and one answer machine, ruined the phone part of our phone/fax machine but amazingly the computer on the same surge protector bar was OK. Still at least it never killed any of the electric fencers this time and never hit any cows or humans.
