Just finished a good book

I SEE BY YOUR OUTFIT, becoming a cowboy a century too late, by Clay Bonnyman Evans, published in 1999 by Johnson Printing of Boulder, Colorado. This book was quite enjoyable to read, as the author gives vivid first-hand experiences about his quest to become a cowboy. He tells it as he saw it, and gives his innermost thoughts and feeling associated with his daily actions. Some of these actions tell possibly too much information, but this gives the book some spicy seasoning. It is his honest interpretation of becoming a cowboy, and I give the book a "thumbs up."

Here is a paragraph in the book: "After the rodeo I wandered over to a dowdy bar and café for lunch. Although I'd gotten to know a lot of people associated with the CS around town, as well as a few collateral types like saddlemaker Danny Salome, I didn't know a whole lot of folks. I wandered into this café feeling both proud of, and a little saddened by my isolation, hoping cowboy authenticity was rising off me like fumes from a dead cow on a hot day."

I've read the book twice, Soap. I enjoyed it right up until the end, and you know exactly why I say that!! (I won't spoil it for others) I just couldn't handle that, although he did earn his spurs. I'd still rate it as a good read and the path that he traveled was one of adventure and fortitude. I must have liked it enough to read it twice!
