It has been a busy few months and I apologize in advance for the picture quality of the Iphone pics.
We are still facing 3 feet of snow with more predicted for this week. Thankfully we missed the last storm.

We shipped a load of calves out this week. We were not happy with the feedlot bid, so went to auction for the first time in several years with very pleasing results. This is one draft of our steers.

I have been teaching AI in town and we closed a deal on a new ranch this winter so we are getting some custom cattle set up for summer. It has been a fun filled time for everyone.

I think your going to have to get less hay in the bag or the recycler isn't going to be happy. :?

Roy Rutledge would say you used "True Price Discovery" by selling at auction.

Just think of all the money you have left on the table in years past.

How is that rubber tire tank plumbed?
The line is 8 feet underground from a pressure tank in the house. it comes up a riser beneath the middle of the tank. The tank has a nipple welded into the center pipe. I connect the riser and the tank using a quick coupler (in case I ever have to pull the tank out to work on the hose. The tank has a fancy Watson float made in Nebraska. The tank has a cement plug with the pipe set in the middle of it. The pipe is 24" I think.

There is very little hay in the bag, just on the side I took the picture from.

I appreciate where Roy is coming from. He worries about his margin and I worry about mine. When you can beat the Canfax prices from home, with no commission and little risk (if you take them to town and don't like the price it's not good) the auction doesn't look so great.

Awesome!! Congratulations!!!!![/quote]

The September pasture tour pics I posted a while ago are actually the new place. It is pretty neat. Lots of water and grass and about 2 hours from home and a significant price difference from the $537,000 for a quarter section around here at auction a couple of weeks ago. We are pretty excited about it and think we have pretty good help found up there.
