At the funeral of one of my old company commanders, when I was in the National Guard from 1972-1978

Horse drawn wagon carried the casket

Long line of people paying their respects

The rain held off just right

Impressive honor guard

Respectful departure

A life well lived

Memorable finale

Meanwhile, back at the ranch

Just another day at the office

Granddaughter at dance recital

My two sons

Black cows, black calves, red calf, black bird

At another funeral

For a long-time friend

Great patriotism on display

It was a nice meaningful graveside service

Cool clear water

Yup.

No worries mate

Just one big happy family

Good thing it's not dark enough to need to use the headlights.

Anyone want to buy some stud duck tires?

Four of them have been driven 2,000 miles

But the spare is brand spanking new.

Rather than sacrifice a nice young productive cow, we just put blabs in their nose. This actually works quite well.

This is kind of off the subject but yet it somehow almost pertains. Sparky was telling me of a little kid who asked his mother, "Mom, what kind of bees give milk?" She replied that she didn't think any kind of bees gave milk. Her son said, "Oh yes, it's a boo bee." :lol:

With a small herd like mine it is interesting how moms and daughters band together 2 and 3 generations really are buddies - - - so far I have not had cows stealing from their moms but the calves all seem to migrate from one cow to the next - - - quite common to see a cow with 3 and sometimes 4 calves suckling at a time, then in mass move to another cow.
