It takes half a day and a lot of miles to check the water tanks in my summer pastures. I have been trying to figure out a way to set up some kind of system where I could use a camera or something to check the tanks on the computer or internet without having to drive there all the time. Any ideas would be appreciated. I don't know much about the "high tech" stuff, so the simpler and cheaper the better! Thanks for any inputs.

They make a solar powered "trailcam" for hunting deer that allows you to link up to a satelite and see it realtime. I have idea about price and would imagine you may need a contract like a cell phone maybe. Basically i am not much help except to tell ya they make a satelite trailcam. :D

This looks like it would work. Don't know how much you want to spend, but I think I might try this if I had a long ways to go check a tank.

This might be another solution. I know it says for fertilizer, but I bet you could rig it up on a water tank. We have the field commander units on all our center pivots from this company. They are a good product and the people you call if you have a question are very helpful and easy to get along with. They basicly have a cell phone inside that sends a text message if something is wrong. This would probably be a bit cheaper than the previous post. The fee for subscription and the cell phone bill is about $170 a year on our pivot units. So its pretty cheap once you buy the unit.
