Looking for pasture board for one low on totem TB mare. Trying to get all the girls in one spot to bring them home. Thanks
Judith

It is a really long board that you put in a pasture :) Takes two or three strong men to carry :) :P

No I'm teasin ya JB. it is the economy version of stabling for horses. Meaning you are not paying for daily turn out and a stall at night. Your horse is tossed out in a herd (gasp, horrors) on grass. ( I know having horses out on grass together in a herd is outrageously cruel but   ......note sarcasm Most TB breeders are convinced that a horse MUST be in a stall 23 hours per day with a fan on it and a fly sheet. Turn out is just horrible for the poor animal :) It is no small wonder that racehorses are crazy between the confinement, steroids in the fillies and the hot feed, you are darn lucky not to get killed. A buddy of mine turned away a few off the track fillies this year, they were so hopped up on roids they were attacking the stallions!!!!!

Sorry Pookie, I'm just a dumb ol' hick cowboy rancher and I don't know nuffin' about taking care of real horses.

Hellsfire, I just leave my poor ol' ponies out on green grass and feed them a little oats when they need to get hardened up to work or are working hard. Shoot, I ain't been around them but 49 years or so.

Isnt it funny, how differently we take care of our horses! I personally find it offensive to see horses caged in stalls 23 hours a day.( and they really are in stalls 23 hours a day at the track!!!!) I would rather see them out in a field being horses. So what if they get a few scratches and dents from the herd. Apparently my veiws are not the norm in the racehorse world. Heaven help you if you were to toss a stud in with mares! You mean they don't need our help to breed??? O Gosh you must be joking :) I have gotten into some pretty heated arguements about the care of racehorses. I dont hot box my yearlings either, guess what. I find the horses I raise are quiet as cow ponies (insert look of shock or horror) and from running around in pastures they can turn on a dime and know just where to put there feet. Just for the record horse people are nutz

I'm not sure that 46 years around horses qualifies you to have them JB. I think the chestnut colt will have to come and visit me to make sure you know what you are doing :)

Don't say that too much, or he just might. And seeing as he's just a yearling, he's been running out and ain't had much training yet, so proably wouldn't meet your high standards. I mean, my gosh, he's barley broke to lead and only had his feet trimmed once!
