Pretty much shut my baleing down, but who's complaining :D
good luck

Looks like Montana and the Dakotas could be in for a lively day and night too...I hate that when they all start talking about Supercell development and Supercell Thunderstorms....

-------------------------------------

.SHORT TERM...FOR NORTHEAST MONTANA...TODAY THROUGH MONDAY...
VERY ACTIVE WEATHER IN STORE FOR NORTHEASTERN MONTANA THIS
AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. A STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND A DEVELOPING
SURFACE LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL SERVE AS THE FOCUSING MECHANISM FOR
THE EVENT. SOUTHEAST WINDS AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING THROUGH WILL
USHER IN AMPLE MOISTURE...BUT WILL ALSO SERVE TO CAP MUCH OF THE
AREA FROM SURFACE BASED INSTABILITY. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE ADVECTING
IN HAVE CONTINUED THE MENTION OF HEAVY RAINS IN THE FORECAST. WIND
SHEAR PROFILES IN THE ATMOSPHERE INDICATE THAT BOTH SEVERE HAIL
AND WINDS ARE POSSIBLE WITH STORMS.
STRONG INSTABILITY IN THE MID
LEVELS WILL ALSO EXIST...DRIVEN BY A COOLING ALOFT PROVIDED BY THE
SHORTWAVE. ANTICIPATE THAT SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS WILL FORM OVER
THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF WESTERN MONTANA AND MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE
CWA FEEDING OFF THE INSTABILITY IN THE MID LEVELS.

I hope yall dont get the high winds we been gettin OT,pain in the ----cleaning up after these storms blow thru, had another one yesterday, last nite, and again today, but the rains have been nice, hayfields are producing about 1/3 more than usual...............good luck

Yep-- thats the reason, all the oldtimers always said to not start haying until after the 4th of July-- get that crazy unstable June weather behind you...

Sister in Austin area just called-- and I forget how much rain they got in all-- but it sounds like its been a rain about every day....She had to e-mail me a picture of her new bull calf.... She's so proud of it because its her first purebred bull-I had to give her a bad time about it being the wrong color (Hereford  )...Next thing you know she'll be thinking I need to drive to Texas to get Hereford bulls from her

I was just looking at the radar again- and it looks like a good chunk of central SD is getting a storm right now...
Weather boys say parts of Meade County got around 4 inches and they have water over the roads....

Reason I don't like hearing them talk about the Supercells- Don't care for those twisters......

Yet--There is a wicked storm right now going thru between Harlem- Malta (stretching up almost to Swift Current) that they have issued a tornado warning on-- and it appears to be heading east almost following the border-- they said that when it was in the Chinook area it produced golf ball size hail and 70mph winds--And it is building..

You spoke too soon Big Muddy.....The sky north and west of us is black-- just talked to my daughter and they canceled the Demo Derby that was supposed to be at the Fairgrounds tonite...

This storm looks like if it keeps running right along the border- you could get some more moisture-- while the nasty stuff is aimed right at us

Now almost everything east of the Divide has tornado watchs in Montana- and I see they just added parts of Wyoming.....

That's a pretty active weather pattern, they got our chances pegged at 80% tonite, sure been a wet year so far,I would like to see some of the folks that are dry get rain,we have already got enough to make a bumper hay crop, tanks are all full and the creeks are running,I bet those peach farmers are watching this system,Hill country is full of peach farmers and there crop is just now coming in,they dont need high wind and hail..................good luck
PS tell your sister to email you a picture of that hereford, lets see what it looks like.

Haymaker-- You Jinxed me

I gotta laugh or I would cry....The first storm hit us head on...

First a couple pictures of it coming in-- I was watching because several folks spotted a tornado 15 miles west of me....

MayJune2007034.jpg

Here is just before it hit....
MayJune2007035.jpg

Here is the aftermath
MayJune2007036.jpg

MayJune2007037.jpg

70-80 mph winds-- hail from quarter size to 2" diameter-- rain gauge shows 1.25 and I don't hink half of it went in....Broke the rain gutters and some screens-- blew the kids trampoline onto the kennel, taking out some fence in the way-- blew down a few trees-- got so noisy we hit the basement...
I don't even want to see what that 3-4 foot high grass hay looks like-- alfalfa is probably all stalks.....

But it could have been worse- neighbor a mile away lost every west window in his house-- said he had a foot deep of hail on the living room floor...He's not even going to do anything tonite- called the insurance man and is going to a Motel--as the weather guy told me there are more storms coming.....

Damn I just went outside for a minute and look what happened,at least the damn tornado did'nt hit you.
That's about how it has looked around here for a week, clean up and here it comes again.
This is what I saw a few minutes ago, maybe it is finally moving east........good luck

I just took another look at the satelite image, that storm stretches from one end of the country,to the other,if its heading east, gonna get rough in some places tonite, hope everybody keeps an eye on the weather...........good luck

MayJune2007038.jpg

Toward the end of the storm-- trampoline collided with dog kennel...

MayJune2007039.jpg

MayJune2007041.jpg

These were hayfields-- alfalfa was a good 3 foot tall and grass as much as 4 foot in areas-- Nothing much left :( This storm followed the Milk River form Havre east-- right down the good hay country...My daughter came out from town and said 1000's of acres look just like this...

MayJune2007042.jpg

Slicked off the weeds in the drain ditch better than you could with a weed whacker!

MayJune2007045.jpg

Grandkids came out- and put together their trampoline...

MayJune2007043.jpg

The flag is still flying-- a little worse for wear- but I put up a new one every 4th of July anyway....

MayJune2007047.jpg

Grandma grabbed the puppies out of the kennel before the storm hit-- and they rode it out in the house with us..

And another storm is looking to hit in about 1/2 an hour  Ol Ma Nature is being fickle......

It rained off and on all afternoon. Sometimes pourin..sometimes just a good steady rain...Callin for 60% or so tomorrow too. These guys that just got hay cut and fields refertilized before all this rain, are absolutely lovin it!!!!!

I heard their are no West windows left in the town of Nashua,MT.

I didn't know you had another litter of pups OT.

I just spoke for a pup from a neighbor of yours but haven't seen it yet.

Were getting a light rain with a bit of distant thunder.

Update-- Lost power during the second storm-- more wind, rain, and horrible thunder and lightning...I guess several are still out of power...

Still showers rolling thru-- over 3" of rain....Creeks flooding everywhere...

Big Muddy-- Almost everyone you talk to has broken windows or no windows on at least the west side of their houses-- a few lost roofs- most houses have the siding on at least the west side of house damaged...Stripped bark off the west side of all the trees...I heard my cousin lost the eye in one of his saddle horses- but haven't been able to get ahold of him yet to find which one (probably the expensive heading horse he just bought)...
Weather spotter a couple miles from me with an official wind speed indicator reported the wind was 85 mph.....

Son was in Forsyth and called me-- didn't believe me when I said all the hay was gone-- told him to just look at the pictures I posted on here-- when he saw the hayfield ones all he could say was " Really- Oh really"......
Then he called this morning and said a hailstorm hit Forsyth late last night while he was there-- took out windows in the motel...

Ya Big Muddy- this litter is about 4 weeks old-- still have 1 red and white male- and 1 black and white female (with a beautiful collar) not spoken for if you know anybody looking...Both will be medium length hair.....

Strong Thunderstorms here from wee in the mornin and they are still goin on now. Pourin Pourin Pourin. Lots of lightenin strikes that were close. Sounds like we may have lost a few trees around the house. Was a good mornin to snuggled down in the covers and enjoy the rain.

Gonna be another day of workin inside the house..........cuz ya can't do nothin outside in this mess.

Thankful for all the rain....but it can move east now, anytime, there's those Alabama boys that need it worse.
