Massey folks

I have the dyna 4 on a 80hp and the Auto-6 on a 150 hp and they are great trannies with good gear ratios and easy to shuttle back and forth. The Auto-6 now has a pedal mode that is very good for a loader tractor

Do you notice any hesitation when you shift from forward to reverse on the Dyna 4?

My NH TN85A makes a solid but smooth change in direction with the shuttle shift but the MF5455 I had last winter seemed very sluggish - a 3 - 4 second delay - when shuttling to reverse.

The dealership eventually took the tractor back since it had an endless litany of woes. They were very good about it, just charging me rent for its use. I was never so glad to see a tractor leave the premises after 6 months of tranny troubles and other stuff.

I've spoken with a lot of other owners and dealership service managers and they seem to agree that mine was a lemon.

Now I've come across a low-hour tractor like it and am scared to try it again.

My unit is a bit touchy getting the right sensitivity on the shuttle but Ive got it figured out pretty good now. I have the 445 challenger that is equivalent to the 5455

I'd be ascared too. plus you might not be so lucky as to get the dealer to take it back a second time around

Worse yet - it's a private deal. The tractor is almost brand new as it hasn't been used for more than blowing snow out out of his driveway. The bucket has paint on the cutting edge yet. But you know what they say - once bitten, twice shy...

I would avoid them...
