We Just worked our fall calves last friday and we were faced again with the question if we wanted to Merial sure health the calves. merial sure health requires the calves are weaned 45 days and have two rounds of shots . when the calves are taken to a surehealth sale they are sorted by size sex and color and mixed with everybody elses calves so that they can be sold in pot loads. Most guys around here don t have enough calves to sell pot loads. any way the program guarntees the calves for 21 days . The cost per head is $14 . We opted to do the green tag program instead at 4 dollars ahead instead. I was curious if any body had tried the surehealth program . Some people around here swear by it others curse it . I just don't know if it pays?

Im glad we didn't now. we have some neighbors looking to by them private treaty. All they buy are green tagged calves. I don't know if they will or not they usally only feed out heifers ,but they bought the heifers off the group 2 years ago.
