Mineral feeder

I'm going to build a few contraptions that hold those 12' back rubs, with a mineral box on one end. My question to you fine folks is do you guy's cover your salt/mineral boxes or do you feed the treated mineral for rain? I personally feed my mineral in a wood box and the moisture seems to drain pretty good, just looking for opinions.

I just don't see that a small roof is any benefit.
 
Sorry about that, I was trying to get a couple of pictures but I couldn't figure that out so I put the whole link up.
 
I just give them Ivervectin and TM salt. Trees are good for scratchin' on :D
 
That is true, but I don't have any trees! :wink:
I just need something for fly control and pouring them frequently enough just isn't very handy.
 
I have some mineral feeders that are open to the rain and others that are covered - - - it does not seem to make any difference to the cows. If the minerals crust over they are still not as hard as a block and the cattle will break thru the crust and break it up.
