Looking to try a new mineral. Have used hubbard and purina in past, mainly because of proximity. Would like to find something that use's more vitamin's in it. Would like to also use some stress tubs. I'm in NE SD.

I used vigortone for a couple years but they freight and surcharged me right out of profitability
 
Do you know what your cattle are lacking? Seems like without having a good idea about that you'd be shooting in the dark.

I don't know when you last checked, or what you compared with, but that is an old wives tale most of the time.
We are very competitive when compared apples to apples and the quality is above and beyond.
There are lots of mineral companies out there, but mineral is not created equal. We still have our first customer....that's 24 years....because of the performance they have seen with Vigortone mineral. Quality of product cannot be beat. All our research goes into mineral. Vigortone is the oldest mineral company in the US and is an industry leader. Plus you get a lot more than mineral if you want--fecal testing, forage testing, consultation, on site evaluation. Just lots of extras at no cost to the producer.
 
From my experiences the soils in South Dakota need supplemented for copper and zinc. Selenium ranges anywhere from major deficiencies to major toxcity. We made some major health improvements by supplementing with cleated copper and zinc.
 
Montana and Wyoming are short of copper and zinc as well. Jon Patterson from MSU did extensive studies in these states back in the late 80's and that was what he found. Plus the fact iron ties up copper and zinc, which makes it even worse. Those two minerals are so important to the immune system. When your cattle don't have a good immune system vaccines don't work as well--whether they are preventative vaccines or treatment vaccines. FWIW.
 
Have had really good results with Purina's Wind and Rain All Season Minerals 7 CP AV4. 100% of the zinc, manganese, copper and cobalt come from chelates, very palatable and reasonably priced. If I were to change I would probably switch to the VitaFerm Concept Aid but it's well over $30 a bag.
