I was reading the other post which discussed cowlicks, and thought it'd be fun to post pictures of my horse and get a reading... kinda like getting your palms read  . Not the best pics, but here goes...

This horse has double swirls.

He has one swirl on each side of his neck.

He has a slightly crooked nose.

This will be fun to see what everyone thinks his disposition/trainability should be like! :D :D :D I'll give you a hint, if I'm riding him, you know he's gotta be quiet and gentle  .

I don't know much, if anything, about the cowlicks on the neck.
His facial short double swirls tells me that he was interesting to break and
should make a real good horse.

If the swirls were longer I would say he was complicated and tougher to break, but still would make a good horse once you got him broke. If he was too tough to break...I guess you wouldn't be riding him.

i'd say from the looks of him loose in that trap and you walking around him taking pic's he's pretty gentle
fh
was right about the ones on his head and how he should have been to start
but i bet picking a fight with him is not a good thing
as for the ones on his neck the closer they are to his ears the easier they are to train and the more they retain
if one is farther down he will be more likly to give trouble on that side and not retain as training and be more work on that side

You guys are good :D . He was actually very easy to break, and has always been kind and gentle. However, Jerry hit it on the head when he said it wasn't a good idea to get in a fight with him  . It takes a lot to get him to that point though. I'd say tolerant is another word to describe him. He doesn't retain as fast as my other two horses, but his swirls are farther back on his neck... interesting :-) .

He's very easy going, and can almost be lazy, however once he gets on cows, he revs right up. He has some pretty big moves, and quite honestly I am intimidated at times  . We're finally coming together as a team, he's six this year.

This is the horse I've really tried to make into a better horse than horses past, and he's been great since he is VERY forgiving to my numerous mistakes I've made along the way. I couldn't have asked for a better horse for me to learn more on :D .

Thanks for your opinions!

Just the fact that he'll let you crawl up in his face with a camera and stand there with that look of patience on his face, proves he's bomb proof

He looks to me, from what I can see, to have a very kind eye.
That's my kind of horse. The eyes tell a lot...even more than the cowlick. IMHO

You're right, he is very kind... I really lucked out since I picked him out while he was still on the mare :D. This is the third horse I've gotten from these people, and they've all made great, kind horses. They decided to no longer raise horses, and so I'm looking for another source. I really like the looks of Jerry H's daughter's brown gelding... but got the impression he'd NEVER be for sale  . I shouldn't need another horse for a while and so I have plenty of time to find a new source  .

wyoming rancher
brownie is a nice horse and horses of his breeding are easy to find in north texas
he's by a son of zips chocolate chip
and out of a full sister to zippo pine bar
he's sappose to a bang up good western pleasure horse but he's out here being a cow horse instead
most of those horses bed like him have his temperment and abbility if you get them out of show barns and treat them like a horse

your welcome wyoming rancher
but if you go to buy one like him i hope you have a big bank balance
brownie was given to us for my daughter as an unbroke 3 year old or else i would not have him
you would not believe what we sold some of his brothers and sisters for thru the years

By the way. Cash has a halter on because he was gettin his right front foot soaked, and dressed. He stepped on a nail at a barrel race saturday, and it went all the way in, right beside his frog. So....lol while I"m snappin pictures of his swirls, his foot is sittin in a bucket of epsom salt/iodine solution. (taken yesterday)
Toilet Paper just walked up while we were doin Cash today so I went n got my camera and snapped pictures of his swirls.

meet buster
he's a 3 year old gelding that i traded a kelpie pup for last winter
he was raised close to the house and is somewhat gentle and halter broke
i have saddled him 4 times now
normally i would be prowlin the country on one by now but as fh put he is complicated
he has 2 cowlicks in his forehead
and the one on the left side of his neck is close to his ears
on the left side i can show him somthing 1 or 2 times and he's got it
now on the right side it is farther down on his neck and it takes 5 or 6 times of showing him somthing new for him to accept it without a fight
and if you start a fight with him you should just plan on being there a while to work past it
today is the most relaxed he has been and i should have rode him but the dirt in my round pen is terrible so i'll have to haul him up to a freinds place to ride him a time or two
well here he is
