Well yesterday I went flying to look for the missing critters. Mike doesn't like little planes so he went to the chioropractor, and bank while I was flying. And I made sure there was plenty of fuel after hearing gcreek's story! We only found two pairs so it's really not looking good for the rest of them.

Never get this view of the cliffs on horseback

After coming home and having lunch we went to get the two pairs. One of the cows was a dog hater so Jill and I rode ahead of them once we got them to the road.

The sun goes down pretty quick in the river canyon

The rest are sunset shots, not as pretty as in real life

Now Hooks, if you want to come help look for the strays we've got plenty of horses for you to ride!

Neat pictures! :D Don't you just hate dog-fighting cows, especially when they aren't in a big bunch!!! You and Jill did what I and my dogs would've done  .

I hope you find the others... one year it was February before I got our last cow off the forest, she was sure glad to be home with company and food again :D .

Yeah, she was a rip. When I found them (Mike was checking another gate) I went around them as far as I could (due to dropoffs etc), should've been just fine...that cow took one look and took off the wrong direction  I couldn't just go around them, and Jill is too young to get them stopped by herself. So had to go up a nasty rocky frozen sidehill to get them, then follow them back to Mike on another nasty trail. And no I wasn't riding a colt. Turned out the 3 year olds, the 4 yr olds are still around but we knew we could get in bad areas so rode the older ones.

We had a pair of Hfrs that raised one calf. They were so bonded that they mover like a team of oxen except when the dogs were around one would face front the other back and go around in circles fighting the dogs. The dogs learned what come behind meant.

Oh by the way got our electric collars and the dogs are responding well. Britt's dog is a changed puppy. Actually listens. :D

..........but do yall have any saddles with thickly padded seats & high cantles

..and maybe a seat belt

once again neat country......have yall ever lost any "off" those cliffs?

BMR - glad you got your collars, I think you'll really enjoy them. Sure cuts down on the yelling and frustration...for everyone involved!

Hooks - high cantles yes, deeply padded seats no. sorry :P Don't know that we've lost any off the cliffs. Don't thinks it would happen unless something was really chasing them.

Some cool flying photo's...It always give the countryside a new look from the air...makes me want to go fly,,it's been awhile for us...Hubby has flown pastures to make sure we got everything home for the winter...I like to fly on sunny days and the hills are snow covered..makes for some cool photos...Thanks!
