Greening up...finally. We had a real hard freeze after almost 2 weeks of 50 degrees. It burnt everything back and it had to start all over.
Stunted the grass pretty bad.

Black broke away and on the run. Danged wild commercial cows.

Used these horses this year, the paints were told to stay home. The feller on the bike hates horses :?

Wow you guys have green grass, love the hilly land too. The pic with the two head watching the other cattle walk the road...love it. Have to say your daughters not all wrong about that cow,she may not be the purdiest but looks like she raises a nice calf, guess thats the most important thing huh? Do share more when you get time in that busy mom-rancher life of yours Little Missy :)

Cert we had the same problem with that frost.. Although it was 80 here the day before the tfrosts came in.. went down to 17 a couple night in a row and we are finally getting out of it now... I don't know what will happen first, feeding the last of the winter feed or the pastures being ready.. I think Ready or not, by this time next week the bulk of the herd will be on pasture.. Luckily the grass is growing about an inch a day right now.. It should be almost knee high by now but it is only up to the top of my boots in the tall places..

Lots of folks around here, if you are hiring outside help, one of the first questions they ask is to make sure nothing is done with hay burners... Folks just don't use horses anymore in this neck of the woods. the Quad has been the death of them.. But we don't have huge pastures and such so I understand.. That being said, I keep thinking about the darn equines..

What pretty countryside you have...your hills have that deep green color which is beautiful. Don't feel bad,,,ATV's have their place here too...but horses are still important! I liked the kids playing picture..that's good ole country life at it's best...Thanks
