I just finished reading his first book "Handshake: code of the west" and was very interesting. I wanna know some more stories of him if any of you knew him and what exactly happend for going bankrupt...now one of my good friends dads owns/manages the ranch now called eagle pass ranch....story time, i like history

Well legend has it he was bit overly fond of the 'hostesses' he speaks so fondly of. I never knew the man firsthand though-he sure was a character though.

its just amazing how one guy can have such an impact on the cattle business...had prolly the biggest impact of converting cows in the west to being black...does anyone know if he is still alive?

You are correct, he died. He had been liveeing in Highmore.
