I only had to hike a half mile. The whole band was just sunning themselves on the very top of the mountain. They paid no attention to me as long as I didn't make any sudden moves. There's no greater feeling in the world than to "be among-em." I've been waiting all winter for this.

Five babies out of seventy five mustangs. I guess some of those shots are working.

Ol Gypsy is looking a lot better than three weeks ago. There are signs of the grass starting to green up. A great thing for the band.

Her last years colt is looking good,, and paid little attention to me,, which is good.

Gypsy's two years ago colt. Growing up and lookin good. He was a little late getting out of bed today.

It didn't take him long to get in a fight. At his age it wasn't too serious.

This old boy had been prettty quiet. I thought he might be asleep. Suddenly he lets out a squeal and comes down the hill full speed.

I was standing behind a small sagebrush, so I wasn't worried. Besides he missed me by thirty feet.

I guess he miss judged the situation, because when he got to where he was going,, he decided he had made a mistake.

I can't tell if either of these mares are going to foal this spring or not.
They both have had birth control shots, but sometimes they don't take.

"About gives me a chill."

In the second to the last picture, are either of those related to Gypsy?

And you're right, Gypsy is showing some age.

Thanks for the pictures of mustangs that we would never get to see, if it
weren't for you!

:tiphat:

The one in front is Gypsy and the other one is her second colt, out of five. Her first colt, a buckskin came up missing about two years ago. I don't know if she just died,, or did some cowboy put a loop around her neck and lead her home.
