I was surprised to find a little dirty water in the pond that was dry two weeks ago. However I could locate only about fifteen head and they were too far off to get any pictures. Failing to find the main band, I concluded they must be down to Government Creek, about ten miles further along the Pony Express Trail road. The water source there is the most dependable in the country.

I was disappointed to find very few tracks around the sheep trough. I saw one lone stud about a mile east of the trough, I guess that accounted for so few tracks.

I headed up the Indian Canyon road about five miles to an overlook, just off the road. I was excited to see Ol One Ear's band about a mile below on a big flat. The road I followed took me within a half mile of them, which was too far away for a good picture.

Ten miles back along the Pony Express Trail road, I found thirty head of all dark mustangs about a mile off the road. They were too far away for pictures. I though I might get closer, later in the day when they came in to water. Another ten miles up the road,I found the main band on the north end of the Davis Knolls.

Gypsy looks pretty good from this side.

I'm kind of mesmerized by Fred's blue eyes.

Fred's mother looks like Fred might get a new brother,,,, or sister in the near future.

I've had some old cowboys comment about a horse's "kind eye." Does Gypsy have a kind eye?

I found this band of paints at the water just below Simpson Spring. They must be mellowing out, I usually can't get with in a half mile of them.

There is no place like the desert for "peaceful quiet."

"Solitude" at its finest.

Yep, ole Gypsy has a kind eye....IMO anyway.
Thanks for sharing your pictures. Sorry I'm late seeing them, been gone to the mountains where I don't have internet.
Happy to see the new pictures this evening. Loved the one of the paint mare with her flashy paint colt at side....oh,
and the sunsets.....beautiful!
