I helped Dad get in a few cows from the horse pasture before we left for school. We took the car, and Ichabod (the duck) was our guest.
We played a few lively marches in band. Lesson 114 was typed in McKay's class. I sluffed through with a 77% on a Geography test. We had a regular day's work in Geometry. In Biology we were given a test, but as yet Krotz doesn't have them graded.
For dinner, the main dish was chicken gravy on potatoes and biscuits. I read over the noon hour.
Written book reports were on the agenda in English class. I gave mine on "Wagons West." McKay sprung a six-weeks test in Drivers Ed. I flunked out with a 68%. In phys ed, I ran once around the track and high jumped until school was out.
Sandra stayed in for a girls 4-H meeting, so Sybil and I came home. Mom pretty well chewed my tailbone over my lousy test grades.
The home front was rather busy today. Dick Runner came out to fix the crawler, Don Alum was here from the soil conservation department, and Marvin Heesacker bought five bulls at $400 apiece.
I rode Sassy up north and helped Lloyd feed about half a stack. Dad and I were going to sort some cows out, but it got late on us. We stumbled onto a dead cow of Lloyd's, so he is going to sell the orphan calf to Heesacker.
I have been trying to memorize the poem "The Crossing of the Bar" by Tennyson. I got a pen pal from Austria today.
