Dad and I piled out at 5:00. We rode Sassy and Silver and rounded up the cows and calves in the middle pasture. Seventeen sore-teated cows and their calves were brought home to milk out.
After a late 7:20 breakfast, I had to really scamper around to get ready for school on time. On the way to town, Sandra reviewed me for a music test.
In chorus, we had a test on musical terms. I had a little better day than yesterday, and managed a 94% on the test. Typing went along fairly successfully, and in Geography we worked on maps. I had to draw a map of Africa for Mr. Nelson, but I thought it was worth the 5% raise on my grade. We were given a free period in Geometry. Yesterday's tests were gone over in Biology. I got 99%.
Sloppy Joes, corn, and plums were on the dinner menu. Our "camping club" grew over the noon hour with the addition of Gary Fairhead and Doug Ward.
We had to recite the poem "Crossing the Bar" by Alfred Tennyson in English class. McKay took Ken Moreland and Carole Day to Valentine to get their drivers licenses, so the rest of the class loafed. I drew the map of Africa the rest of the afternoon.
The rest of the "tribe" went to Valentine this afternoon, so I came on home. I checked the cows on Jig and then helped Lloyd feed some hay. We also pitched some hay into the barn. I had to get in three cows to tie them up. I never did get a cow for the fourth calf in the barn. Mom came home to fix supper and then went back to get the rest of the family, who were at a 4-H meeting. They all just got home now.
