My journal entry for Tuesday, May 28, 1968
Doug and I left right after breakfast for Quible's branding. We loaded Jig, and had a little trouble doing so.
When we arrived, I unloaded my horse and help round up. The crew was exceptionally small with only two sets of wrasslers, two ropers, and the necessary job holders.
I roped and wrassled. One guy would rope heifers and one would rope bulls, which kind of complicated things.
We got done with a bunch at the house about the right time, and got ready for dinner. A generous quantity of booze made some of the guys feel pretty happy.
Right after dinner, Doug and I loaded up and headed down to the Leach Place. We branded Lloyd's 20 Fuchser calves. Charles McNare came down to see the calves, so helped with the branding.
Ed Leach came through going to his pasture with portable branding corrals, so stopped awhile to talk.
Dad went down to the Fuchser pastures to check windmills, so the rest of us continued fencing. We are going great guns on a new stretch of fence west of the Myer's place.
We came home and had supper, and did chores at a rather late hour.
I filled out horse identification sheets for the 4-H horse show to be held during the fair. I put down Sassy, Jig, Stampede, and Silver. Sandra used Ribbon, and Sybil used Toodles (Nancy Jean's baby colt).
