Remember the first round of the NFR is tonite-- It is just ending and will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 10PM MT...I been cheating and checking the internet- and my fantasy team ain't doing too hot...Only one to make me many points was the oldtimer- Etbauer took second in the broncs...My Canuck pick (Graves) didn't place in the dogging.....
Two Montana gals placed in barrels with Anzick winning it...
Don't know if I can stay awake until 0030 Hrs. to watch it all- Haven't been up that late in years

I see 42 broncs are heading down from Canada want to bet how many are in the eliminator pens lol. Saw Painted Smiles go in San Antonio today on the tube she's lost a step or two. Grated Coconut was awesome-like every trip.

Yup it's Linn Churchill that's my neighbor...and I thought he did pretty darn good his first round...tying for 5th...at least he placed! If he can just stay consistant, he'll come out pretty good. I talked to his wife, and she was way more nervous than him..lol Hubby and I are gonna be there Tuesday and Wednesday in Vegas to cheer him on...Should be fun. It's always fun when ya know someone.... 8)

I had a good night tonite-- 26 points altogether...Got firsts (worth 6 points) with Masters/Bach in TR, Ohl in CR, Lanham in Bulls, then Lee Graves split 2 and 3 in the doggin, Mary Burger got 5th in the barrels and Timberman split 4th and 5th in the barebacks....Only goose egg was from Etbauer in the broncs who got bucked off.....

I got these all off the internet- now I hope I can stay awake to watch it...Fell asleep right after the broncs last night...My body is not used to staying up until 1AM....Altho I got a call from a game warden and they may need to get a court order tonite- so I need to stay up awhile anyway  .....

Sure was raining good bronc riders last night. That was sure a rank pen of horses. The bull riders stayed on track with 3 scores in the 90`s.

Yep- That was fun to watch...I loved Billy Etbauers ride- for 7.8 seconds he had the winning ride going...He doesn't even know what the word safety up is- he just charges them horses with his feet every jump...I think he would have beat that spinning horse of Mortenson...

That big old Painted Smiles mare doesn't look as tough in barebacks as she was in the broncs- but she sure is much more user friendly...She banged up a lot of guys in the chutes when they used her all the time as a saddle bronc...

The ones that are having a heck of a time are the team ropers...Boy they are throwing a lot of loops that are coming up empty...

I had a ticket to Vegas given to me and turned it down, I guess I'm getting old-- In fact if I tell you the whole story you'll think I'm dead   ...The ticket was offered me by a very good looking 30 year old young lady who's a very good friend of my daughters and mine- but I'd have to travel and room with her, since this was a ticket she got for her boyfriend who can't make it now and everything was in her name...
And I turned it down- someone should shoot me   Number 2 daughter is going instead...
Been nice to go- but just wouldn't be as much fun without Grandma...Nice thing is that my adopted son (who qualified for the IPRA finals in Oklahoma City again in the broncs) is also flying into Vegas on Wed from Atlanta...He and #2 daughter can do up the town a whole lot better than I can.....

I wonder why the NFR has to be shown so late at night? You can't tell me that the crap programming on ESPN2 before the NFR is a better ratings getter then the rodeo. I like the way they promo it they always give the start time as Pacific time. I guess it doesn't seem as late that way.

You aren't dead, OT, you have just gotten to the NOBLE stage of life~ :P

Thats what I'll call it-NOBLE-- but I sure don't see myself doing that 30 years ago tho- but back then I didn't have any good looking 30 year old girls wanting to give me trips to Vegas either...
Actually this will end up costing me, since #2 daughter is in college and didn't have the spending money to go along- I dug deep in my moth ridden pocket and gave her enough to go as an early Christmas present... Get it back in free labor next summer

I agree- and this year they don't even have the replays the next day during the day-- they replay it at 1AM

At least tonite and tomorrow night its live- on at 7PM MST......

They even delay the start for some talk show. Heck they never cut the end of a game off but they sure don't mind cheating us on the rodeo.

I`ve been offered tickets for quite a few years and haven`t taken them yet. Maybe that`s why Korkow always offered them to me.

That was a potential wreck for Ronnie Fields in the dogging.

Yep he's lucky he ain't got a broken leg and a crippled horse...

Made me think of one of my old travelling partners-DJ Smith- who was Benny Reynolds brother- and was using one of Benny's horses- Brownie- to dog off from..,Brownie was a good horse- but had a few quirks....One was if you ever started down you better go, because if you tried to get back in the saddle he'd probably blow up...We were at the MSU college rodeo in that little arena in Bozeman when DJ had a steer set up and tried to pull himself back up- old Brownie blew up and bucked the little length left of the arena and made a quick turn back when he come to the bucking chutes and left ol DJ splat spreadeagled against the chutes... When we saw he wasn't dead it became kind of funny

My nephew offered to buy my plane tickets to go with him, but I'm kind'a like OT, if the little woman ain't along (to keep me out of trouble) it just isn't the same. 'Sides, it's pretty easy to watch it from my chair or bed and the crowds are much easier to get along with.

I watched the first round at a house in Gillette where a bunch of people was practicin' to become drunks and I didn't get to hear much, but did get to watch the broncs. Thats all I really pay any attention to, anyway. After the saddle broncs, it's bedtime. :)

Tickled me that Mortenson didn't get much of a score for shining his boots in the first go, but he kind'a drug some hair off last night and they gave him a better score. I do believe they might have gifted him a little.

If your just shining your boots, you shouldn't get a very good score, when you can ride like them guys do.

Did you all notice we got 6 guys from SD in the saddleborncs? :D

Hey, Billy's still from SD, I don't cvare what adresshe's usin'.

I sure agree with you all...ESPN2 could hush up that program they have on before the rodeo, (which how many people watch it) and start the rodeo ON TIME! I know several older folks that enjoyed watching it the next day like they use to have,,,but now that's not a option. Surely ESPN would see the sell out crowds in Vegas and realize that there are many others at home wanting to see it too. They could make their money with no problem...
SD is well represented this year, and Nebraska even has it's share!
