Nebraska Shortchanged By Big 10?

When it comes to the athletic department's bottom line, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's move to the Big Ten Conference hasn't proven a B1G winner so far.

The $15 million partial share of Big Ten revenue Nebraska received last year fell substantially below what former conference brethren such as Oklahoma, Texas and Iowa State received from the Big 12. In fact, the vast majority of big-time football schools were paid more by their leagues.

What's more, the University of Maryland, a relative no-name in football, is expected to be paid more than Nebraska when it joins the Big Ten next year.

Why do you worry about Nebraska so much? Do they bother you? I don't recall one husker fan on here that continually digs up dirt for no reason on other teams.

Bet there is a real reliable source behind this story.

Omaha World-Herald

What, me worry? I'm just bringing you guys the news.

This is what I read on HuskerMAX....

In 2017 Nebraska will become a FULL member of the B1G, including a full partnership in the B1G Network, which is currently valued at 1.3 BILLION dollars. Revenue received from the B1G by Nebraska in 2017 is estimated to be between 40-50 million dollars.

Four years ago, Nebraska received a whopping 9 million dollars from the Big XII.

And now you know....the rest of the story.

Looks like a payday worth waiting for, especially when football revenue has always financially subsidized all other sports at Nebraska.

Four years ago, Nebraska received a whopping 9 million dollars from the Big XII.

And then had to turn around and pay $9.25 Million to the Big 12 for an exit fee buyout. Helluva deal!!!!!!!

$1.3 Billion divided by 14 teams = a lot less.

With the payout we're gonna get? Damn straight it was a helluva deal. Only a fool would have stayed.

Besides, we could afford it.

It will be a while before Maryland & Rutgers become full members of the B1G and have full partnership in the B1G Network.

This example stretches it a tad, but for round numbers it's close enough........
1.4 billion (1,400,000,000) divided by 14 teams would mean each team's share would come to ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS......EACH...Just figuring the B1G Network alone.

That's not chicken feed.

so, now you admit you left for money....before it was the PRESTIGE of the EDUCATED big ten.... soon you will admit you could not compete with Texas, and that former door mats KSU, ISU and KU had the nerve to beat you, and not bend over and take it any more....

The educational part and the conference prestige are hard to put a dollar figure on.

Maryland is getting a better up front deal than we did...but they are looking at paying a buyout in excess of 30 million...whereas we paid less than 10 million.

We took a temporary pay cut for a long term payout. Now that you have seen the kind of dough we'll be in line for, I'm sure your a$$ will really burn....I don't see that kind of money in the Big XII.....Texas would never stand for sharing those dollar amounts equitably with her conference biatches.

Keep imagining you're the 4th best team in the second best conference, Jiggsy. We'll be too busy going to the bank to do more than laugh about it.

BTW...any new building projects going on for athletics in Manhattan? Research facilities? Dorms? Classrooms/offices? Anything?
We've done the expansion at Memorial Stadium, new baseball facility at Haymarket, new basketball facility, and a $20 million dollar renovation @ the Devaney...the new home for Husker volleyball....plus buildings for R&D.

These things take MONEY.

if you were not so busy reading willa cather books you would know about the building going on in manhattan.... re did the whole west side, going to wrap around the south side, a major over haul for the Octagon of Doom, plus a 2 billion dollar research facility for agro terrorism and bio security,....

KSU is doing fine PLUS we don't have pricks from nu to deal with on game day.....

Hey there jigs, you forgot to mention that they REMOVED around 5000 seats in the recent stadium "expansion"

You need to do back to math class if you think 1.3 billion divided by 14 is less than 9.25 million.

they will be added back in the wrap around... the loss of the seats made room for the new addition with expanded fan area....

Don't worry about Jiggsy, eatbeef.

I'm sure he'll let us know immediately when they have over 300 consecutive sellouts.

I don't waste my time reading about what is new @ KSU. It's irrelevant.

Correction...I earlier stated that KSU was the fourth best team in the alleged second best conference....they are actually the FIFTH best team...in a conference with only ten member schools.

We had a choice to leave for a far better deal every way you look at it, or kowtow to Texass.

KSU had a choice to.............stay and be happy with whatever crumbs Texass deigned to throw their way.

Had KSU been given an opportunity to get the perks offered to us, plus a full share of a TV network worth one hundred million dollars of equity to them, plus a payout in a few years of 40-50 million dollars/year, they would have left, too. In a heartbeat.

Your eyes are permanently green, Jiggsy....and that green eyed monster is one ugly mofo.

Seems to me that not very long ago we came within one second of doing a little more than just "competing" with Texass. But what can you expect when you are playing for a conference championship in your opponents back yard where they controlled the refs, the facility, the conference president, and the clock? When it comes to dirty, Texass makes Oklahoma look like a bunch of Sunday school teachers.

spin it how ever you want...the rest of college football knows the truth... and read the message boards...60% of the fans are not impressed with adding NU to the big 10..... they already see you for what you really are....spoiled pricks with ego's so big ......
